So I had this idea about a month ago. I want to get my son-in-law interested in knife building and my brother really wanted to build a knife. Soooo...I came up with the winter knife series build. This will be a 3 knife series that each of us will build throughout the winter and in the spring we will take and use them on our GNO (guys night out) campouts. I ordered 3-1084 steel blanks. Had them draw up their idea of a good all around camp knife. Steel is 2x12x3/8 so they had to design within those perameters. Knife 2 in the series will be “bushcraft knives” and the 3rd knife will be camp cleavers. Designs for the camp knife were completed last week so we started the build today. Goal was to get them all roughed out and ready to start bevels. It all went well and they are good looking KNO’s (knife shaped objects)at this point. We will continue on another Saturday morning here in the near future. My son in law cutting out his first knife he designed and is building. Roughed out on the bandsaw now to clean it up on the 1x30 Hard at work on the 1x30 Mine in the works That’s me making lots of little pieces of metal out of a big piece of metal My brothers design taking shape In all their glory. Top on is my brothers. Middle is my son in laws and mine on the bottom. Lots still to do but we are making progress. Stay tuned!!!
