Recent happenings..... with a lot more going on too!
Not doing them anytime soon but some future blades
I'm fighting a sinus infection that's whooping my butt this week! But I love ya'll so I power through it and keep going!
@CPRPE..... I spy.....
That much closer!
Kinda sad that I have to be at work when its semi nice and 40 degrees, when I could be home grinding on orders
Just glad I am starting to feel better from this sinus infection..... lesson here is alway wear a respirator when working on knives, cause wood dist fiberglass resin and steel powder are not good and your body will treat them like an infection and then you get one!
Come up and go squirrel hunting with me tomorrow! Get you out of work, and off the grinder!
Glad you're feeling better, sinus infections are no fun.
I should start feeling better this weekend. I have been eyeball deep in kitchen remodeling for the last several weeks (on top of work and the holidays) and there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I have to work till 1 tomorrow and dont have a way outta that lol, or else I would
Nope they are the worst, next to wet feet lol.
Hope the misses like the new kitchen when it's done!
30 minutes to spare! Love ya'll but my wife laid down the law! No working this weekend since tomorrow or today for some of you eastern folks, is our 10 year anniversary from when we first started dating. April 28th will be 7 years of marriage... oh where'd the time go....
Anyway, here's what ya really wanna see!
Some finished stuff tonight
One to go into getting finished asap with 2 others!
And i wasn't going to start more till these were done! But while stuff was drying..... I cut this out for a member here. Benny was for scale
It's getting teal burlap and orange g10 liners, burlap from unique micarta!
Yeah I am kinda a fanboy of Greg's..... there's almost $180 laying there, and there are 2 other sets not shown plus the piece above, so about $240 in just micarta!
Wait till ya see what I do to this! @ACinSA you sure before I get started?
Got me some new boots this weekend for my anniversary
Starting off the week right! Working before work.....
I think user grade just went next level..... not that I dont make a nicely finished knife normally but this one is
Chris, you continue to improve and impress!
Thanks, as I narrow in on getting caught up I always think about what I've learned along the way and how each knife is a constant improvement on the last.
Me likey that tracker.... I def see one in my future...
Your Muk is in the background in one of them pictures too....
Ha! Just saw that. Nice!
55+ hour work weeks are quickly kicking my arse! But alas, little by little I make headway on yall's stuff!
These 2 sheath need stitched up then sealed and they will be off to new homes! Plus theres a third one I'm working on too that just didnt get a picture...
Whatcha doin to the Esee 5?
Grinding off and deepening the serrated area then hollow grinding in a draw section, in short Trackerizing it.
Today's history lesson:
The LAST of the first 14.... This was the first blade I put a finish grind on when I got the first batch back from Peter's HT last June. It was intended to go to my mom as she wanted the first production knife that wasnt a prototype. Well after finishing it, finally, I decided that O1 probably wasnt the best choice for northern Alabama on a lake.... plus she's not a knife junkie and would let it get rusty. So I told her I was going to make her on in a nice stainless instead.
Now I have a Orion Micro from the first batch with a nice dual color, again no such word as scrap in my shop!, kydex sheath.
That escalated quickly......
Dang...an esee 5 I actually like!
Had some errands to run today with the wife and ended up having to replace the rear brakes on her car so I didn't get as much as I wanted to this weekend.
This should look good together though!
Still waiting on a silly order before I can finish a couple more.
Ordered this stuff almost 2 weeks ago! Finally came in.... its brass tube with a Orange colorfill, its translucent and looks awesome when you put a light to it. Should look nice when its polished up during finishing
To Quote my favorite TV show, The curse of Oak Island, "That's a Bobby Dazzler" Well done buddy!!
It does Dazzle that's for sure
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Did you make the sheath as well?
Those are some NICE Shirley Temples!
Yep I did
Good looking leather Chris, looks solid!
That sheath is kick ass, man. Nice work! Skills... Skills.
Thanks guys, I'm finding that when I take time and chill out things come together really well.
Today is day 10 of 9, yes that's right, for the day job. This is slowly killing me cause temps are not bad and I'd rather be finishing up some orders than be stuck at the shoe store!
I've even gotten in some new stuff to play with and hone my skills with and cant even make time to do that
F&S kit fro @Teeps
New pin striker and file striker fro @AngryDaddyBird
And some baddassery from @Blackhawk45hunter in the form of his new Phoenix Bowie and a HWSK blank that was a special request that I'm EVENTUALLY going to hande in blue maze micarta from unique micarta with blase orange g10 liners
Said I wouldn't order anything till I was caught up but I had to order 5/32 O1 for a order so I ordered some other sizes too
Its finally getting above freezing so I'm able to get some stuff done again.
Sooo I got a box of metal today....
Time to wrap up existing work so I can move onto some new ventures!
Project SAK.... spoken for already
What's next is wrapping up a few orders and designing some neat things.
Soooo........... a box of knives by noon tomorrow?
Box of chocolates?
I just edited above a couple I cut out and have laying around. But no, tomorrow I need to wrap up HT of 3 and get handles fitted and glued up and finish a custom SAK
Oh and there is 7/64" O1 in there, that's for some Alox blades....
I like the thinner blade profiles. They slice meat and skin hides better in my opinion
Oh hand sanding sucks!
The flipside before hand sanding
Those are some sexy handles!
