A major forest fire near Phoenix, AZ has spread through part of the Superstition Wilderness Area and the Superstition Mountains. The fire has grown to 44,451 acres and is only 15% contained. The fire is in an extremely rugged mountain wilderness with little road access. The fire has caused the closure of the Apache Trail SR 88 from the Needle Vista to the SR 188 junction at the Theodore Roosevelt Dam. The Tonto National Monument was also closed. Several Arizona Trail Passages are closed that go through the fire area. The cause of the fire is under investigation, human-caused is suspected.

I have attached a link to the InciWeb - Incident Information System that details the fire. The photographs tab of the incident page has photos, videos, and documents from the daily reports.

Sorry to see this but it seems like the whole SW is going to burn sooner or later.

I wish Florida could send Arizona some of our rain; stay safe and hydrated out there.
