I need some bush time. Woodbury Wildlife Area is just 45 minutes away.

Do any of y'all have any experiance with it for an overnighter? Or any advice on a place within an hour of Mount Vernon (Knox County area)?

mohican up near loudonville, just north of you. thinking more like 20-30 minutes (depending how you drive) never over nighted myself there, but it's a beautiful place, some great trails, and really not too far away. there's lots of little tracts all through knox country if you get to know the right people too!! if i still knew them, i'd totally connect you.....but it's been a fair number of years since i was there.....

    Perfect, thank you sir!

Yeah, that is ok. I’ll just have to get to know people. :)

At least there are woods and hills up here!! Moved from Texas last spring and the land here is just beautiful.

i know! i went to college there (04-08) and that's why i knew the land. mount vernon nazarene university used to have some land out of town that i loved to wander....but i heard recently that they sold it. i also used to work at a camp out by danville......but the camp directors have changed since i was there.

i will say this-the kokosing gap trail is great for just getting out for the day. (it was convenient, since it basically runs behind the college) there's some great places were the trail runs over the river-it's where i truthfully first got into bushcrafting, especially IDing plant and tracks. it's no over night place, but a good quick recharge!! used to be my go-to every saturday, and some evenings.

Mohican is awesome. Park and hike camp sites. Beautiful woods.

Awesome! I am thinking this as soon as the Labor day crowd clears out. So probably Tue/Wed.
