I’ve always used an 8” bench grinder to sharpen my mower blades, but since I’m getting more acquainted with the Harbor Freight 1x30 belt sander I figured I’d give it a try. I have to say I prefer the belt sander now. I used the 80 grit belt as I’m not going for perfection on a mower blade. I don’t think I sharpened it in over two seasons so the edges were really bad. Poor grass was just getting pummeled as opposed to being cut nice and clean.

I've got so much sand in my yard, the poor blades look like sicles after one season.

I use a hand grinder. I hate sharpening blades. Or rather, I hate taking them off.
I won't say they're sharp, but they are sharper than when I started :D
