Hello all,
I have finally hit the 100 post mark, and feel it is time to give a little back to the community. (you folks are the best!)
it is not much but it is a neat item at least.

birchhat1.jpg

This is a handmade (from Finland) birch bark hat. date stamped 1997.
it is a fixed size (just under 21 inches) so it is kind of on the small side.

*I will ship anywhere in the U.S.

two easy rules:

1- reply "I'm in"

2- describe the perfect outdoor setting for a bushcraft session/ camp-out for yourself such as location, season, who with, etc...

winner will be chosen by random number generator on the evening of February 14th.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm in. I would love to be in an area of Alabama, Limestone for a little climbing and possible caves. My good friend Double D, some hot choco and a steak. He is one of my best friends of my life and I only really get to see him in the outdoors. Low 70s and clear skies.

I'm in! Prefer Springtime near a river with ample firewood and level camping area to set up small tent for my wife and self and pooch. Thanks for the chance.

I'm NOT in, but a very interesting piece of gear there. Thanks for showing it and thanks for the generosity.

Right now I'm working on a bushcraft shelter with a couple friends of mine. So the perfect spot would be in the finished shelter with my two buddies on a balmy spring afternoon into a cool overnight with no clouds and a clear moon...

Did I mention I'm in! :D

Im in. Perfect spot for me is anywhere in the Colorado Rockies with my daughter and my friends. Thanks for the chance

Im in, my perfect setting would be temperature in the 60s to 70s with sunny weather and with my my four best friends.

OMG!!!! im soooo in!! that is possibly the coolest thing ive seen in weeks:)
i would most like to be anywhere in the deep woods of oregon during the late spring with my dogs marryjane and wheels and anyone willing to get real deep.i love the feeling of being somewhere posssibly nobody has ever been:D

I'm in and would wear that on an outing in the Mt Hood area where It's OK to be. Would like early summer after the spring rains and before fire becomes an issue later on.

That hat is very cool.

I'd love for "the gang" from late high school/early adulthood to get together again for a late afternoon/early evening fishing trip on a warm June day at the old fishing hole. Small fire, some hot dogs and a few cold beers, and some big old catfish....Man, we didn't know how good we had it then when we we're constantly fishing, hiking, camping, and pretty much care free...It's been many years since all four of us were together since as we're now scattered across the eastern US. That would be great!

Thanks for the giveaway and thanks for jogging some good memories!

ETA: Not in, it wouldn't fit me, but thanks again for the giveaway!

I'd enter but it didn't fit my large cranium! Very awesome craftsmanship. By the looks I thought it would be dry and brittle. But it's flexible and tough!

Might have to learn how to do that.

Nice hat!, wont fit my noggin' so not in.

But, Ideal bushcraft? Dead of winter in the Medicine Bow Forest in a well stocked cabin (read: lots of food!) Chilling for two three weeks. Also books. Many many books.

Im in. Sardis lake Mississippii, Boys and girls club Camp Phoenix. I was a program director and taught nature study for years. My dream job. Hopefully my future dream career.

I'm in!
My dream bushcraft spot would be on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska where I would like to spend the rest of my life fishing, hunting Sitka Blacktail deer, digging clams, catching shimp and crab, cutting firewood, crafting, and learning from the locals.

Okay folks, contest is over....

Congrats!

Hat will be in the mail as soon as I get an address.
