We are now one month into our Paleo Challenge; so lets hear how you are doing. How is everyone doing on goals? What's working for you; what's not?
We've heard some early successes and challenges, but let's gather them all in one place.

If you haven't already committed to doing this, but are interested feel free to join us:dblthumb:

15lbs and almost 4" off my waist.

I don't watch carbs like I should, I just eat fresh veggies and fruit, and plenty of meat ;). Only 'slipped' once this past weekend when I ordered a pizza. Damn it was good. :D

Haven't done as well as I would've liked. I only lost a few pounds. My wife has been down hard after a surgery and I really haven't had the time to invest in working with this diet change as much as I wanted. Looking forward from here though.

Here is an awesome pizza recipe, not exactly Paleo, but it is low carb and taste waaay better than Metza. It also taste better than Pizza Hut or any of the store boughts,
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/recipereview/showproduct.php/item/4293_www.genaw.com/lowcarb%20Linda's%20Deep%20Dish%20Pizza Other than finding this recipe, I actually met my goal before this challenge was started. I don't mind bragging a little bit though. I stick to Paleo at least 80% of the time and have done so for a little over a year now. Most weeks I hit closer to 95% Paleo. I would also recommend the movie FatHead, its on netflix. I guy eats fast food for 30 days and loses weight. He makes good choices, has a ton of science behind him and after the 30 days he does another 30 days of saturated fat and veggies and his blood work improves again. Good luck to those of you starting out and to those who have been on this for the last month. I have lost just under 100lbs in the last couple of years, I started with Atkins and gradually moved into Paleo/Primal and I follow the Primal Blueprint Fitness/Crossfit workout so if anyone needs any help or pointers please feel free to pm me.

Must admit that I am on a modified paleo 90/10, afew weekend brews and minimal white rice, still I have lost 23 lbs. My energy level are also up. An unfortunete side effect however, is that I am wearing out m the vibram on my heavy hikers on my lunch time hikes (a lot of asphalt). Going to have to find cheaper shoes/boots to wear out.

Only lost five so far.:2: I cut out junk food at work, that's all there is in the vending machines. I have a major sweet tooth so giving up sweets is hard on me.:2: I'm addicted to potato chips but have refrained from those also.:2: On a positive note what I've lost has made my jeans looser:1: Not getting enough exercise.

No appreciable weight loss, but I have converted several pounds of flab into muscle.

I haven't been as consistent with the paleo diet as I thought, but I have been in the gym five or six days a week, biking, lifting, and swimming.

I've lost 8 pounds this month. I was doing a little better than that until my birthday at the end of the month. I ended up having 3 different parties, and didn't resist the cake like I should. I love routine, its the holidays that are the killer.

I'm still rehabbing my knee, so I haven't put on the walking/hiking miles I'd like. But it is improving and I intend to gradually add more in. After years of personal training and powerlifting coaching, the strength training part is the easy part for me; its the endurance component that I need to improve.

5 pounds in a month is excellent and is also a healthy rate for weight loss. Keep to the goal and the weight will melt away.

17 lbs for a month , need to get a scale for home to weigh in am, I am in my duty uniform with all my gear on when I weigh myself it alone weighs 10 lbs plus . Only problem I am having is eating apples I like them I try to save them for every other day to watch carbs. Tried a batch of flack seed crackers couldn't get past the smell, will try almond flour instead . went for a jog yesterday, only did a mile , my legs felt like stone. Will try again maybe sunday morning next chance to get out. did a few reps with dumb bells today and a few reps of sit ups . This diet cured bu sleep apnea and I am well rested when I sleep.

I weighed myself about 6-7 months ago, so I can't tell you how much I've lost in the last few weeks. My pants are loose, my skin is clearing up and how hunger makes my feel has changed A LOT. Things would change faster if I started working out.

As that I had a cruise booked for last week I thought it insane to start before then, so I started today. The scale says 265 (bugger) and I am ready!

Havn't lost a pound, though I do feel better. Unfortuantely, I can't afford to eat this way all the time and I have to fall back on the carbs we have in the house (wife can't live without her pasta and cereal.) and I think that is what is killing me. I feel mildly ill after eating them, but meat is expensive. I envy you guys who can hunt all or even some of your meat.
City living will be the death of me.

wear a 5 lb dumbbell in a fanny pack for the day take it off at night and feel the difference ....trust me 5 lbs less is a great start.

I didn't start till the 15th. But dropped 5lbs the first week. Gained some back and dropped it again maybe ill update in here when my month is over

Jan 1 = 234 lbs, Feb 1 = 221 lbs .... 13 pounds down but a loooong way to go. Lots of walking and other exercise. Feel good, sleeping like a baby. Still need to get the food worked out. Currently making my own meals seperate from the family.

I picked up a book on this here diet from the library maybe I'll join you folks

Wellll, I suppose I should update here as well. I can't really follow the diet 100%, but my diet is basically 95% non-refined foods. Occasionally I do have some oats for carbs, but being a personal trainer means I keep my workout schedule rigorous and I haven't found a lapse in which I can fully switch to this diet completely. My other two problems are money and time: first of all, I'm young and don't bring in much money at all, and I also spend all day at the gym working and little time left at home for cooking. If I had generous amounts of income I think it would be much easier to switch to 100% meats, fish and fresh veggies. But, I suppose my diet is probably somewhere between 80-20/70-30 paleo at this point. Like I said, I still eat some oatmeal on occasion for breakfast... not great, I know, but it's what I can manage right now.

In any case, I'm having good luck in cutting down my body fat. I began working hard last year in the summer on getting in shape, starting at about 175#, and lost most progress in the fall when I spent some time backpacking around Europe, and lost all the rest when I came back for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I started around the first week of January again though and weighed ~168#, 12%BF. Being 5'10", my main goals are toning muscle mass and losing the remainder of my excess BF. Spending all day in the gym with clients though gives me good opportunity and excuse to get multiple, solid workouts done.

I am now ~158#, and will get my month's body fat figured out tomorrow. In any case, I've lost 10# in about four weeks and really toned my muscle mass (my abs have come out of hibernation!). Since I'm tracking my progress in a pretty strict manner I'm taking pictures every month or so to see which muscle groups need work and where my fat is still hanging on.

This was me late last year, sorry for the bad picture quality, and though it's hard to see, you can tell by my top abdominals that I'm actually flexing.

Here was me last week, I had my dad take the photo since I'm now proud of how I look.

And that's not even 100% on the diet yet! I'm happy with the progress, and we'll see what this month brings.

My wife got kidney stones right after the first of the year, so I had to fend for myself in the kitchen. I reverted back to old trail recipes and contents that fit the challenge regimen. I also hit the treadmill for 30 minutes each morning. BAM - down 15 pounds in 4 weeks and still going. Thought I'd stop when I was back to 180.

that's solid. keep it going, nice job!

hey guys I'm new to the forum and stumbled across this thread.
I've been paleo for over 2 years now, while I switched my eating habits for health reasons other than weight loss I know many people who have made drastic transformations using the paleo methods. Stopped by to give my support, keep up the good work!

23 lbs off since first week of january I have sinned some. Ate a small donut my friend made them on a campout and then ate a small wedge of carrot cake. Still haven't touched any soda icecream etc. may grab a plain Hershey bar now and again but staying clear of breads made a almond bread was ok more of a cake though want to get coconut flour and try that
