EDIT… COPY OBTAINED. NOW LETS SEE SOME 6WI12WO ACTION… GO!!!

Anyone have a copy? I’ve been to the website and read you send $15.00 check or money order and it appears in the mail. Is this legit?

The site doesn’t seem like it has been updated in a while. I submitted a request to join the USRSOG forum and am still pending approval.

I did find a copy for sale for like $90 on some random auction site I’ve never heard of before, but that seems a bit steep if it’s $15 from USRSOG.

The reason I’m asking is I have taken a lot of game with my browning buck mark. I always figured it would be the pistol I took in my bag. My dad didn’t want to give it back after borrowing it so I got a new one and figured I’d modify/upgrade it a bit. While I was digging I came across a reference to the pistol Jasper describes in the book and it seemed to confirm where I was going with this project.

I figured I’d try and get a copy to see what it’s about, but wasn’t sure if the whole send in a check thing was legit.

this is from the URSOG website...

And this is where I’m at...

I already have an aim point T2 not in use that my dad is going to bring when they come to see the kids for Xmas. New barrel, internals, trigger, fiber front site, rail, and grips are already in route to the house.

It really is amazing how accurate the Buck Mark, Rugers, and Victory type pistols are. I used mine in Alaska for small game all the time. I have no issues getting head shots on squirrels and grouse at 25-30 yards with iron sites. The one my dad kept was stock with fiber sites it was a tac driver. I had to site it in on the top edge of the fiber dot or it obscured the target too much at those ranges but it always put food in the pot while out for moose or bear. Used to take it to the range and just collect a bunch of spent shotgun shells left laying around and prop them up all over the place for practice.

They are are Legit, I have got a few copy's over the years.
This book leans to more SERE/Survival than Bushcraft.
I don't think you will see Ray Mears with a copy.
They've had some influence on my gear and methods of
acquiring food over the years.

Its legit alright. My favorite survival book, probably. Its a real survival book no fluffy PC BS. No arts and crafts. Its down and dirty!

Pictures reminds me of a story from the second world war (probably an urban legend).
A guy was selling a lot of "hare" to the german local unit.
The germans were at first pleased with the delivery of fresh game, but after some time, probably picking up rumors, they knew something was "fishy".
And one day the man came to sell his hares, he was abruptly sent off with the words;
"NIX mer pus" (no more pussycat).

I think @Beard-O might have an interesting story similar to that. lol

Without the context of people actually getting manuals it would look like such a federal datamining scheme to me.

Like, if I was a contractor dutifully turning in my 25 hours a week this is exactly what I'd come up with to check the box for an interdepartmental counter-whatever task force request.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go find the checkbook.

@Primordial is correct. I in fact do have a story similar to this. In 2006 I was deployed to Ramadi Iraq. We lived right on the edge of the city in a cluster of houses we turned into an outpost. Right across the road from our outpost a local had a sandwich shop. He made some pretty mean sandwiches and the fresh samoon bread in the morning was amazing. He also had skewered chicken every once in a while. Sort of like the kind you find at chinese buffets. Because many of us in my company spent money there (not much to us but the american dollar went a LOOOOONG way for them) he also was a impromptu informant when we needed information on local events and we developed a rapport.

Well one afternoon I was on a rooftop pulling overwatch for a mission and the sandwich shop owner taps me on the shoulder. "Mister, I need your knife." I waved him off and told him to go back to his shop. Another tap on the shoulder "MISTER give me knife." Irritated I turned to him and said "WHAT could you possibly need a knife for on this rooftop go away I am busy." To which he replied "for my chicken" and he held up a fist full of dead pigeon.
