while waiting for the 1084 to get here I did some grinding on another file and a cleaver.

saw this cleaver at the thrift store for $1.50 and thought I saw a knife in it.

Decided it was a nessmuk

took a left over piece and made this little tin knife. I really like the way it came out.

Had another file and wanted to try a bird & trout pattern. I like it, but I think I am going to drop the finger grooves when I get the 1084.

That's some nice work, hughewil. It looks like the PSK knife has a solid grip in the hand. How'd you like modding the cleaver? After making my Franken-Tracker out of an old Case, I think I'm hooked. You should try making one out of a thick cleaver sometime. They make good wood wreckers.

I found the cleaver harder to work with than the file. The edge kept getting to hot so I ended up taking off more than planned.

I Had your cleaver wsk in mind but this cleaver was only 1/8th thick so I went with the nessmuk (still needs cleaned up). If I run across a bigger thicker one I will proabaly do a wsk.

But with 8 feet of 1084 coming I will be busy griding out some patterns.

The little tin knife fits great.

The finger grooves do a great job as aferro rod scraper so it has officialy kicked out my ferro striker and taken a place in my tin.

I think I will call this the STK survival tin knife.

I will have to cut several of these out when my steel gets here.
