Alone in the Wilderness

It's on my local (Detroit) PBS channel at 8 tonight... check your local channel's listings.

Edit: Oops, I just noticed that you're in BC...probably no PBS stations nearby.

Guys, alone in the wilderness is copyrighted material.

You can probably talk about watching it and where one might find it but copying is pretty much illegal. I watch bootlegged wilderness flicks all the time but our hosts at BCUSA can be penalized for having threads about "copying" copyrighted material.

I value this place and I'm sure you do as well. Let's be attentive to what trouble we might cause the fine folks here at BCUSA.

I'm nobody, so this is all just un-asked for advice.

Peace.

I'm pretty sure programs such as this can be taped legally from a TV show, If it's for your own personal viewing, If you aren't taping it to retail it (boot legged tapes), if you are not charging others to watch it, and If you are not using it as a fund raising tool without the express permission of the owners.

Great movie! I agree with Moe, I don't interpret what others are saying as copyright infringement as they are talking about places to WATCH it online making the infringement someone else's criminal act.

Regardless, I certainly agree also that we don't want to jeopardize the great thing we have going here.

Are there any other films like this that I don't know about?

Alone in the Wild is another documentary where a guy goes camping alone in Canada for 60 days (attempting 90).

He talks a lot about feelings and there's crying, so be advised.

The last time I checked it was a $250,000 fine per license violation and jail time up to 5 years.

After reading the life and times of Grizzly Adams as a kid, This is something I have dreamed about all my life.So funny enough ,My buddy living in Florida is in resturant one day and who walks in but Dan Haggerty:) He puts him on the phone with me and I asked how Nakoma was doing. Turns out he sends me an autographed picture saying thanks for rembering him and the show. A very classy guy and was very nice on the phone. That book turned tv show is what sparked in my young mind about the outdoors and I have been in them ever since.....

There's no crying in bushcraft!

I disagree.:22::D There is no safer and more natural place to heal than in the wilderness.

Incidentally there have been studies carried out on the different kinds of tears humans generate. 1) Tears associated with cleaning the eye, say onions gas, dirt debris etc. 2) Tears from laughter and happiness, 3) Tears of sorrow

They found that the first group of tears was just basically saline. The second group had trace amounts of seritonin and dopemine. While the third group of tears collected from sorrow, contained neuro-toxins and other waste products associated with stress and anxiety. So it's no wonder many folks report feeling much better after a good cry, as it it a natural way to detoxify our body and maintain optimum neuro balances in our mental chemistry.

I hate to change the subject, I want to see this movie also so I'm going to check out the link. Can somebody tell me where to watch "A Cry In the Wild" (Hatchet) online. I know Amazon has it for sale but I would rather rent it online if I can. I think Netflix has it but I don't want to pay for a membership right now for one movie.
