I took these today out on the trail while I was gathering some fresh cut carving wood. Both of these shots are at 300 feet +/- and using a tripod. Telephoto is set at 30x. Notice the identifying features: the vertical bars with white in the middle on the face and the rust-red "ear" near the back of the head. There are about 3 or 4 different species of hawk wintering here this year.
