This was from 2010, they again nested in our field this year. We didn't "maintain" that part of the field until they moved on, hence the overgrowth into the row. We've also had these "nest" in our driveway. The eggs blend quite well with the gravel.

It's southwest Michigan, these pictures were taken in May. Two hatched, one still in the egg (all ended up hatching). I know what species they (only because I've seen the parents)...

Take a guess if you'd like, I'll post the species after a day or two (or confirm if someone else posts it).

Don't know what they are but we have them at work. The adults fly off making all sorts of racket to distract you from the eggs. When laid in terrazzo gravel the eggs are really hard to find.

And Killdeer they are. The parents do make quite a racket if you go around the eggs. One time for the pics, then we left them stayed away.

I bet on terrazzo those eggs are near invisible!

I hate killdeer with all my heart. The adults don't just "make racket" - they will follow you squealing long after you have left their nest far behind.

Just TRY to get within 100 yards of anything your trying to hunt or stalk with one of those scrawny buzzards circling overhead, making enough racket to wake the dead. They also have the uncanny knack of staying just beyond shotgun range.

Ewwww this gave me a bad memory some kind of ground egg laying bird layed some eggs on the ground in my yard and I stepped on the eggs with my bear feet!!! It's was in the middle of winter so the bird left the nest because it was so cold...

Lol to Sgt. Mac I was camping and found some eggs in a nest and my buddie said to eat them. So I hard boiled them and when I cracked the shell on one of them guess what I found??? A baby chicky!!!

Have you had frog legs? They are really good!!!
not yet... willing to eat it though... I have had lizard, grasshopper, scorpion, want to try snake and crawdads. annoying bird eggs would be on my list of things to eat... maybe I should raid a crows nest.

Make sure the eggs are not fertilized lol nothing like craking a egg and finding a beak!!!

It's called balut...usually made with duck eggs!

Crayfish are good. Froglegs are good. Dog is too.

Not et a scorpion and would like to keep it that way. Eaten ants though...but not on purpose...

I'm in for raiding crow/raven nests! Not sure I'd want to eat the eggs tho...I know what the parents eat...I have to clean up my bloomin' trash every time they get into it! Worse than dogs.
