Now I know you either hate him or love him, me I have come to like this Man.
He has sent me this signed pic which I am getting framed and giving it to my Son who is in the Scouts.
Thanks Bear, top Guy.

No matter what people think about him, no one can deny that he has gotten alot of young people interested in the scouts and being outdoors.

That looks like a good gift for your son. Grylls' work with the scouts seems to be commendable.

I don't mind him, think that's a great gesture he sent that.

Definitely cool of him to send you that signed picture! I'm sure your son will love it!

Cool stuff!

I emailed Cody to get an autographed pic and never heard a word from him.

So did I and I got an email from his producer/agent that I needed to download a photo from the internet and send it to him with $2-00 for the return postage !!! what is going on my people? surely if Ray Mears and Bear can do it for fans then Cody can...hell I like Cody.

I don't think he's all that bad.

He just tends to encourage stupidity in the woods, lol.

Stand up gesture! Great pic, too:D

I like Bear. I have a problem with his show, but I like him, there's a difference between what the TV show producers think will sell airtime and the man.

The guy climbed Everest after breaking his back. He was SAS and French Foreign Legion. He is also a long-time supporter of Scouts. That alone is enough for me.

Thanks for sharing! Great gift for the boy!

How could that be Gryphon!? I thought Bear made up his show, hence the complete hate following for him. After all, we all know how stupid Jackie Chan is, since he does all his own stunts, right? (how many people have died from jumping from one building to another 10 stories up?)

Bear has producers and I think they have quite a lot of 'say' in the content of the show, I was listening to Bear on the radio yesterday and he is a great Bloke, very religious also.

i like him, because he wears the same MERRELL shoes i do,, both of us for the last 5 years , so at least he knows good shoes ...Go Bear!!

One of things I always hear about Bear is the "he's a fake because he stays in a hotel" argument. Personally, I can't blame him! Heck, if I spent all that time running around, climbing trees and rocks, and eating things that just shouldn't be eaten, I'd wanna stay in a hotel too!!:D

BUT, I really like how he emphasizes prayer and the spiritual aspect of survival, which for me is VERY important. I also read an article that talked about his ministry he founded which helps kids with outdoor leadership and spiritual discipline IIRC. Right up my alley!

Cool pic!

No knock against him as a man, but as a performer, he has indeed done some outrageously stupid and dangerous stunts- at least for the majority of his young viewers. It may sell, but it will inevitably result in emulators suffering injury or death. That, I do not and cannot agree with.

Thanks Bru, he is a good bloke and Grey One, outside of the showman ship and into the Scouts he is very level headed and sensible, but I understand what you are saying.

Very nice of him to send an autographed flick. Some celebrities don't seem to have enough time to show how much they appreciate their fans. Bear makes the time to do it.

Congrats on the pic.....That is a great thing to do for your boy, from both of you.

I don't care what anyone says, the man know how to make money doing what he likes.
Good to see a thread that doesn't just spend 17 pages of 'hacking' at him by people that don't get off the couch.
Merry Christmas.

Me too but, that reminds me that Lou Ferrigno was selling autographs at the Arnold, sad.

I agree with G1, he's obviously extremely knowledgeable and capable, but I don't like how he often takes what I would consider to be dangerous unnecessary risks. I like the saying "Never step on anything you can step over, and never step over anything you can step around." A situation is never made better with an unnecessary injury.

Bear seems like a great guy and is a bona fide badass.. French Foreign Legion ain't no joke. I wish he'd quit the unnecessary stunts though. He's going to get some kid killed.
