Anyone ever use the buddy heater or other propane heater in front of a lean to where open fire is not allowed? Just wondering, we are headed into drought conditions again with high fire danger. Burn bans are the norm in my area , and I usually do car camping, or in the woods on my property, so weight is not an issue for the most part. Just wanting to be outdoors at night, but with it in the 20's and 30's I want some form of external heat.

X2 on using the Mr Buddy all night with no problem. I use a kodiak canvas bow flex tent when I take the little one out. Keeps it heated pretty nicely. They run off 1 pound propane bottles or you can get an adapter hose to connect to a bulk (grill) tank.

We used a portable propane heater in our duck blind. It was the kind that uses those small screw on bottles and could be turned to a position so you could heat food on it. I think it was called a Mr. Heater. It kept the blind warm but we had four sides enclosed and a top that was partially closed until the ducks showed up. I don't think it would be all that great out in front of a lean-to unless the wind was from the back of the lean-to and the heater was bit sheltered on the sides. They get pretty warm and make a little noise but would work okay if it isn't real windy.

Work in a tent for sure Hondo, the lean to is iffy. I think there will be to much heat loss from wind.

I used my Buddy heater in a small travel trailer the whole time i was building my house. No issues at all. Great little heaters.

I have used one in a tent. They put out a lot of heat but it goes straight up. I fashioned a reflector from a disposable aluminum baking pan and it made a huge difference.

I use them daily to heat my small cabin and I have used them in a tent. I highly recommend them for these purposes. I have never used one in the application you are suggesting. I think that you would lose most of the heat to the air.
