Went Fishin' with a buddy of mine yesterday down at Buffalo Bayou just outside of Katy, Tx. The first pic is of Your Most Obedient Servant with the only fish we caught. The second is what happens when big ol country boys get around cat fish (butter, garlic, bacon, and "crop duster" spice-awesome btw....) Third is just a random where my rod was hanging out, Fourth is the trail in, and Fifth is the otter we saw... Very freakin' cool especially since I had NO IDEA Texas had otters. We also saw a couple big Egrets and a Wood Duck drake and hen shoot off right in front of us. It was a great day spent with a brother Medic. Park on the side of the road, hike in, brew up some coffee, and eat like kings. Hope ya'll enjoy the pics. Thanks for taking the time.

Great pics, you mean you Texas boys eat fish that isn't fried? Thanks for sharing.

Look like a nice outing. I sure do love sitting river side and fishin for big cats, looking forward to getting back out when the weather shapes up. I must have 3 dozen of the same sorta rod shots laying around.
Thanks for sharing bud

Great stuff, in the 50s as a child I spent a lot of time on both the Buffalo and White Oak Bayous , was glad to here of these waterways have be restored and reclaimed from the urban sludge of the big city.

Thanks for sharing! I live in Houston also and usually ride my bike along the Buffalo Bayou near Katy. Where were you located at? Nice little spot you found there.

I bet that area was flooded from the storm we had the other day. Looks pretty wet in your pictures.

I actually live in the Clear Lake area...my buddy lives 5 minutes from there. Yeah, bud, it was a bit heinous getting back there. The mud was a good ankle deep, We mostly stayed off of the trail and just bushwacked (if you count about a quarter mile bushwacking) out there. Just be careful on your bike- We saw quite a few pig and dog tracks back there.

You sure that's an otter and not a nutria?

~JohnP

pretty sure... not 100%. I grew up in Galveston and have shot nutria since I was a little guy. This little dude was pretty fluid in his movements- something I haven't seen much of with nutria. Plus, the little guy was watching us all the way down the bayou. this pic was taken just before he went under n'er to be seen again.
