Who wants my copy of the Buffalo River Handbook, by Kenneth L. Smith? 2004 (most recent), 436 pages.

PM me with contact info and I'll send it your way... no charge. Just payin' it forward.

Hey there. I'm a fellow river rat. Love canoeing, and mostly go on the Buffalo, Spring, Eleven Point and Current rivers. Lost my copy in a house fire a few years back and would love to replace it. If it isn't spoken for already I would certainly appreciate the gift. At any rate, whoever receives it, thanks for offering.

Oh man, someone mentioned the Current river. I love that river. Been down it about 8 times now and can't wait to get back. First went there about 94' The Van Buren area sure has changed since then. Middle and upper Current is absolutely beautiful though and great fishing.

It's yours, Bro! PM me your info.

Happy paddling!

The first time I canoed was on the Current river in 1971, on a senior class trip. Fell in love with it then and there, and have been ever since.

Got your PM, OM. The book will go out on Monday. Probably pretty nice paddling weather out there right now. No bugs!

Just wanted to say "Hey" on this thread to my fellow neighbor river rats! You can find me at least a couple times each summer on the Current, or Jacks Fork. Haven't hit the Eleven Point yet, but hope to soon. Definitely agree the upper Current is awesome!

Did you read they released that cougar somewhere near the Current? :39:

WHAT? When did they release it? I made 12 hour trip down twice this past summer. Did Baptist Camp to Pulltite mid July (to miss the party barges). Went back at the end of August and did Pulltite to Van Buren.

Missouri has many confirmed cougar sightings, so it's clear they have them, but the latest story was a live capture near a campground in a recreation area called Sutton Bluff on the Black River just last week.

Afterwards they relocated the cougar to the "nearby Current River Conservation Area".

Other news accounts of the incident contain video of the cat in the cage. He was not happy, I felt sorry for him! That being said, I have zero desire to meet him in person in the wild. Maybe from a safe distance....say, from inside my car. :39:

I'm really suprised that the cat was released in MO. I don't think it would have been here in AR. Our Fish & Game is very adamant about reintroducing cougar back into the state, even though they were native. Their justification is that, besides the danger to livestock, Florida panthers and cougar from the N/W are of a different species and therefore don't belong here. :6: I guess they "forget" about the black bear, elk, turkey, etc., that has been brought in from other parts of the country. Oh well. I guess it will be up to the cats themselves to reclaim their old stomping grounds. Go cougars!

Received the books you sent a couple days back. I'm really enjoying the "Buffalo River Handbook" right now. It's full of fantastic information. Am looking forward to reading "On The Wild Edge"- sounds great.
I can't say how much I appreciate these gifts. Thank you so much.
