Was in Vermont and stopped and bought a pound of homemade chocolate candy. Had my yellowlab with me. Stopped again at another store. When I got back to my vehicle it was all gone. Abby, my lab ate the whole pound. No ill effects what so ever. I believe she wanted more it was so good at $13 a pound.
My dog got into some dark baking chocolate a few years ago. Not enough to kill her, but enough to make her heart race and her temp go way up.
By the time we figured out what she had gotten into, the chocolate was far enough through her system we just had to wait it out.
She drank a LOT of water that evening.
I've had two dogs get into the milk chocolate. Both of them ate one of those giant Hershey's Kisses (8-12 oz). Scared me at the time but didn't seem to bother either of them. I guess mutts are built sturdy.
LOL...my dog managed to somehow get a glass 9x13 baking dish of chocolate cake/brownies down off the kitchen counter without breaking it, once. He ate half of it. My Mom was so mad at him that she looked him very sternly in the eyes, shook her finger under his nose and said "I hope you get very very sick from this!"
Of course, being the living vacuum cleaner that he was, he didn't get sick at all.
When I was camping in Big Bend a couple of Javalinas went through my camp while I was gone because my car broke down in Marfa on some desert road in the middle of NO ware and the Javalinas ate ALL of my food!!! Exspecially the 2 Pounds of chocolate in my cooler... When I got back some people camping by me said the Javalinas ate all my food Bla Blah Blah and later I found out the Javalinas died... Probably from all that chocolate they ate...
the chart and numbers confused me haha.. but i dont feed dogs chocolate anyways.. my old Boxer ate 2-3lbs of fudge one day while left at house alone... and my Cookiecake at another time in my younger days... shes gone now but not from the chocolate haha
