I got a fantastic call from my younger brother Saturday morning. He was digging around in the old garage and found some old boxes. Well inside was my fathers belt kit from the Army issued in 1963 at Ft. Dix. Being the coolest damn brother I could ever ask to have, he packaged it all up for me and is shipping it out. He also found many of dad's old knives, compass, Zippo hand warmer, bota bag, military name tags, and some other really awesome stuff for me.

I expect the package this week, pics to follow and possibly a give away on my old belt kit! I am so stoked to have my dad's military stuff to bring in the woods with me, his knives will be finally be going to good use again too!

The sentimental value makes this so special that he thought of me when he found it, being able to pack it with me every time I go out....... priceless.

Cant wait to get pics up and get it all set up

That's awesome man. you're braver than I am i'd be too nervous sentimentally to take a lot of that gear out.

That's great. Nothing beats gear with family history to it. Can't wait to see the lot. Congrats on your score :)

The memories are what makes the old tools so special.
Enjoy them and create new memories to go with the old.

Nice of your brother to send them to you. I'm sure your father would of approve of the use for them.

Congrats and use in good health! It was awesome of your brother to pass them on to you. I hope you get to put them to use soon.

thats great! I'm sure these things will make your woods walking that much sweeter!

Great attitude about using your Dad's tools. I get such a good feeling using my Dad's old fishing rods and reels (but never his 1930-s to 50's lures!). It's like he is along with me (he passed in 1994).

I've got a toolbox full of his tools that i use all the time. We fixed many a household problem, and made some cool projects with them. The tools that he owned that I never used with him just don't have much meaning for me: they are just old tools.

I'm with GreyOne: Use them with your kids so they have even more personal value, then pass them down.

Exciting times for you with this awesome news, really looking forward to some pics when you get it all sorted. I love having just a few of my Dad's old tools and knives, something about using them just feels so right.

Cheers, Bob

Glad to hear you found your dad's gear. What a great day!!

That's awesome! I remember when I found some of my grandfathers military items. Can't wait for the pictures!

Congrats!

I love using my Dad's and Granddad's tools, whether pens, tools, or knives. Having that connection with your gear is awesome.

Can't wait to see pics!
