Some pics from the 3,5 hour ski trip I made yesterday.
The temp was -30C and a bitterly cold northern wind blew over the lake at our house, so I hurried over it.

In the woods the wind wasn’t as bad, so I could ski bare handed long periods, bamboo staves are very good in that they doesn’t chill your hands like metal or glass fibre ones do.
My trusty wooden skis, 9’ Tegsnäs, glides almost silently through the freshly fallen snow in my old tracks.

The roe deers are having it very difficult with all the snow and cold. At this place where the spruces grow the snow is thinner so they can dig for food.

At open areas the snow is now almost 3 feet deep.

Hare tracks cross a small marsh.

The fox has been out and crossed another open area.

Other than that I saw rain deer, moose and ptarmigan tracks. The only living thing I saw was a wood pecker and I heard some tits singing.

The sun is setting and everything starts to turn blue.

An old abandonded moose lookout stands alone, freezing in the evening.

The clock is 1500hrs and the sun is setting.

One last shot, taken earlier when the light was good. Lots of frost but I was warm and toasty the whole trip.

Fantastic my friend! Your country's landscapes are absolutely stunning. (Especially when covered in snow.)

Thanks for braving the frigid winter cold to share those photos with us.

Regards,

Nils

Great pics!!! Man I wish we got that kinda snow.

Great pics. Nice area. I have the same anorak .I installed 18" zippers on each side to get in and out better and sewed a big Kangaroo pocket on the front. I also chose brown. It has become a wind shell i take on every outing.

Awesome post Micke. I love the North of Sweden; it's beautiful up there, and your pictures really do it justice.

Looks like it was a nice time!

I would be interested in seeing pictures and details of your button-on coyote ruff, and hearing if you have any remarks about how it has worked for you thus far. It looks like you have roughly the same setup as Pake here just with buttons instead of zipper.

Yes, I got the idea from pake's thread. Mine is just a piece of coat wool sewn to the ruff and then with slits cut for the buttons. I think I have 7, ca 15mm, buttons sewn to the hood.

edit: It does it job as it should, I can keep the ruff folded back when it's not blowing so much or unfold it so it forms a wind 'tunnel' when the wind picks up.

Some more pics, hope you enjoy them as much as I did/do:)
I'm slowly getting used to my new DSLR Nikon D7000 and Lightroom/Photoshop...

The camera held up quite well in the cold, only after 3 hours all the displays and autofocus 'dots' started to slow down quite a bit.
