DIY Cowboy Kahlua!

Whoa...I waited a month and a couple of days, and wow! It's still got a kick, but it is nice and smooth once it goes down, haha.

Once you swallow it it leaves a pleasant coffee candy flavor in your mouth...lmbo.

I think I could get used to this stuff!

Probably better to cut it with coffee, eh?;)

Sounds like a long wait. I make mine with EverClear grain alcohol, Blue Agave syrup, vanilla extract and 6cups of strong brewed coffee. (makes two 750ml bottles of Kahula) ready to go as soon as the coffee cools. :P
 
It`s basically what we call "karsk".
But here we skip a few steps and ingredients.

Make coffee (strong). Fill up half a cup with strong coffee and add moonshine.
And thats it. You drink it straight a way, no waiting period:).
 
If I could get shine or Everclear I'd have used that, lol. But we can't get Everclear here in PA, lol. Backward liquor laws I guess.

I used Smirnoff Blue Label vodka. A bit raw, but that's what I get for buying cheap booze!

I used to make this stuff back in the 80's using vodka, instant coffee and a vanilla bean. The two week waiting period was murder. But it tasted pretty good though.
 
A little trick for using cheap vodka. Get a charcoal water filter and run the vodka through it 4 or 5 times. After that $7 half gallon will taste like Grey Goose.
 
Have to bump this one up. Made it early April after finding the thread and gathering the ingredients. I used Everclear mixed to "potent" strength according to the directions. Wow! It tastes great! I can't even taste the alcohol and it is smooth. I might cut back on the brown sugar, it is sweet like Kahlua. Highly recommended giving it a try (waiting a month kind of sucks though so I am going to try a 2 week rotation).
