Does anyone have the SAK firesteel farmer? If so could you take pictures from more angles than just the sides and post them? I mostly want a picture of the cavity with blades out and an angle on the back where firesteel is. A bonus would be one with the blade about 45 degrees worth of open.

I am daydreaming about making a farmer/modded bushcrafter firesteel.
Just wanting to see if its something I could handle. I have the extra layer separator from where I took a layer out. I know some people who tig weld and I believe It could be done.

petrifiedwood is correct but pictures are worth 1000 words. If this dose not show you what you are looking for just ask I can take more.
The steel is on the liner between the blade and the saw. If you took of the can opener and screwdriver tool and there liner off it would center the steel in your new firesteel bushcrafter. Don't think I haven't been thinking about it myself.

So it is just the one pin? That is really all I needed to see. when all blades etc. are open does it look normal on the inside?

Thanks for taking a minute and posting pictures.

Awesome! Just kicking around the idea to tray and make my own version. Not that I make many or any flint and steel fires.

The knife has a good steel on it and throws great sparks. With the weight of the knife it is much easer to hold the knife just above your tinder and strike down on it with a stone. I use it with a tin containing charred punk wood.

Sooooo, they send you the parts...the striker, instructions, and new pins to put the knife back together?

How much?

hello,

im not a dealer here so only a few infos:

the firesteel farmer sak was a design of mr brunner, a knife collector from switzerland, first made only as the soldier sak model. we did upgrade to the farmer as i felt a woodsaw and splitring is needed.

its made from time to time, different colors, currently we have silver alox, knife is assembled and we dont sell parts or support modifications. ouer work has factory warranty.

im in switzerland and soon back in usa for exhibit at the blade show, where damon eggert will demo the firesteel sak as he did here: damon eggert: firesteel swiss army knife - YouTube if you do a youtube search of firesteel farmer, damon eggert or swissbianco you find more videos.

i want say thanks for the great work you do here and as time allow, i do bushcraft too.

thanks

Not meaning to hijack this thread... Roger, does Victorinox still have the tooling for the older German army 2 blade knife with awl and corkscrew (civillian version was the "Safari")? I belive this would be perfect with alox handles and the firesteel. Just a thought for the future, not sure if this is acheivable. I am sure you could sell at least 20 of them, even just here! I have 3 of these older model German army knives, and use them more than my 2 Huntsman model Victorinox.

Love your work, cannot wait to see a Mini Bushcrafter with green alox. Thank you for sharing with us!

You will enjoy it.

I've had mine for some time now. It's my EDC and I have lit many fires with it.

sorry for the delay, back home in usa and stright got the cold. the 108 sak is near all gone, only 1-2 models are still made in swiss. did back then two spl runs, planned a 3. but havent got time.

there are no alox scales for that sak, currently only red ones, some i have in stock. we work on 111mm ones, that i splash but first will be the pocket clip, so we can use that on different non factory scales as well.

I realized when I first posted about this I was ambitious. Now I just want to buy one and skip the embarrassment of trying to make my own. Looks good to me.

Here is a review that I just did on the alox fire steel farmer
