I was having a bit of a play recently with my Etowah 11. I noticed, when using the large burner only, that it seemed to be getting a secondary burn coming in from the holes. Is this a genuine secondary burn (a la woodgas-type stoves) burning previously unlit meths vapour, or is it just where the oxygen is being drawn into the burner? Either way, this is a really hot little stove!

I also noticed that the cotton wadding inside the simmer burner is charring - probably from the heat generated when using the outer burner as a priming source. Although very cheap to replace (especially if you have a wife/daughter who will have tons of the little pads for makeup removal etc!), I'll probably replace with some carbon felt. This will absorb and aid vapourisation just like the cotton, but won't scorch.
