favorite flies

The last time this came up we ended up doing a fly swap.
1. Czech nymph
2. French nymph
3. Elk hair caddis
4. Adams
5. Werewulf

In summer I'll carry Chernobyl ants

Wolf

Here are my favorites:
1. foam hoppers in size #10 or smaller
2. brown or olive wooly buggers in size #10 or smaller
3. cat's whiskers again in size 10 or smaller
4. foam spiders
5. streamers of various patterns

I fish mostly warm waters, when fishing for trout I will use cat's whiskers and small bead head nymphs.

what's that old line..."and I got a LOT of favorites!" :D

my most USED patterns seem to be

Adams
Wilson's Sinking Crickets
Wooly Buggers
Clousers
any type of "red butt" or "chernobyl" ant (easier on my eyes to see)

I still love them all though....I have boxes of flies I'll probably never use...but I can't resist when I'm browsing the bins!

Dahlberg divers
Lefty's popper
Deer hair bugs
wooly buggers-all black, black with chartuse tail
Matuka- olive, black

i fly fish for bass exclusively as trout are too picky for me

Mosquito
Caddis

Used to fish with Emerging Chironomid a lot up north, have not tried it where I live now.

forgot to add my own favorite

irresistible adams
flashback pheasant tailed nymph
hares ear nymph
royal wulff
march brown

also i would like to add the high visibility aka hi vis foam hopper dropper
this fly is the bees knees
i used it while fishing the west branch ausable river outside of north creek new york less than a half hour from lake placid
i caught seven fish the first day using it and had countless hits
HANDS DOWN the single most effective fly i have every fished with in the north east. it really is irresistible to trout.
i want to put in a mass order at some point because they are difficult to find (there are several versions but this is my favorite) Heres a link for a picture

Wooly Bugger (for anything)
Foam Spider (bass / panfish)
Adams (trout)
Elk or Deer Hair Caddis (trout)
Hare's Ear (trout)
Pheasant Tail (trout)

Okay, let's see...
Parachute Adams
Wooly Bugger (for warm water, tie with a red or purple chenille head)
Elk Hair Caddis (esp. the lighter colored ones)
Renegade
Any of those small poppers from Betts, for bass/pan fish.

Adams
Royal Coachman
Mosquito
Bi Visable
Zug Bug
Parmachene Belle
Silver Doctor
Hornburg
Any Smelt Streamer

There is one that I don't know the name of: Brown dry hackles fore and aft with a peacock herl body tied on a short streamer hook.
Bob

I like the Muddler Minnow, Mosquito, Wooly Bugger, and poppers for native fish
and Parachute Adams, Royal Coachman for trout
I've found that it is best just to see what bugs are in the area and tie one just like it. Bugs around here tend to be white, brown, or black.
