I've been playing around with leather working, and finished two projects recently. Nothing complicated or fancy. A belt pouch and a rifle stock shell carrier.

The shell carrier is for the Savage 24V, .223 over 20ga. The belt pouch will hold miscellaneous goodies, a tinder box with flint & steel, tinder, an emergency blanket, compass, PSK tin, spare ammo.

I'm enjoying leather working and have some more projects lined up, always nice to learn something new, especially when that something is closely related to enjoyable hobbies.

Using the information that folks here contributed I bought a couple tools and some leather from Tandy. All the advice is really helping. I still need to get the edger tool, and learn to burnish the edges. All in I'm enjoying it. Thanks for looking.

Looking good! I like your toggle clousure. I may have to borrow that.

That gear has all kinds of win in it!! Again, Super jealous of your new long gun.

I love it!! Very nice!! and to me the great thing about good leather is it only looks better with age! (wish I could say the same about me, though my skin is starting to get the same consistency!)

Shoot brother...looks like you've been working with leather for years.

Love that rough looking flap and toggle of that belt pouch.

How thick is or what is the weight of the leather on the stock sleeve. I've been kicking around the idea of a small stock sleeve/pouch for my new Henry .22 to carry a handful of rounds.

And are you using a punch for your stitch lines? They look great!

Those are both really sweet! I really liked the combo gun when you posted the earlier pics. The stock shell carrier just adds character that matches the weapon. Really nice.

I'm not the best at judging leather weights. I cut that sleeve from a full shoulder, I bought two shoulders for leather material. I guess it's about an 8oz or maybe 9? I don't know what the typical cow shoulder is classed as. It's about an 1/8" to 1/4" thick.

Missed that question.

That four hole punch.

I got the stitch groover thing but I'm not so good with that thing yet. Gonna take some practice.
