Our very first Kansas Gathering will be held at Eisenhower State Park. I need to get a definite head count narrowed down as I am going to reserve units/buildings for this event.

Details here: http://kdwpt.state.ks.us/news/State-...ons/Eisenhower

The only thing I don't have ironed out yet is the exact date. I want to try and do this when we can get as many members as possible to attend.

To get a better outlook of people coming, tell me which time would work best for you:

March 17th, 18th, 19th
April 6th, 7th, 8th
May 4th, 5th, 6th
*keep in mind the possibility of extreme weather.

This will just be a friendly camp out. As such bring anything you need to be comfortable. I will get some pizzas for one of the saturday meals but you will need to bring your own gear, food, etc.

I also need your shirt sizes.
This will be a good opportunity to work on your BushClass as a group.

bioranger will be doing a medical training class.
I will do a bow and drill demo.

If you have any skills to offer the group, let me know.
Perhaps some of you from the big red 1 can do a land navigation demo or discuss the importance of physical fitness in the wilderness.

Let's hear it!

Well if the dates work out I know Ill be there and thanks ahead of time for putting this together. As far as skills go im still a green horn in most areas I dont know what I could show to you seasoned veterans :).

I am so ready for this to happen!! April will be best for me because I will be in New York from march 5th to the 16th. I am not really a tactical person in the military because I am an IT guy. But I can give something a try. It will give me time to brush up on what is needed to give a class.

And working on the bushcraft classes as a group will be great!

Edit: Shirt size is Medium.

You'd be surprised what can be learned/taught within a group of people focusing on a common goal.
: )

I'm pretty sure i can make any of those dates work.
2x on the t-shirt -- 2xTall if available to cover me for shrinkage. :D

we are going to be in Wisconsin in April so March or May would work best. shirt size is xl. I'm still green, so I don't think I'll be teaching anything but I am looking forward to learning.

Maybe...maybe could make the March one. Not sure though I'm waiting on word for a job and will be moving to South Dakota some time in March, just not sure of the exact date yet. Sorry for being vague, but as soon as I know more I'll let you guys know. If I can make it, and anyone is interested, I might do a quick presentation on snake identification in North America. Might be handy for some.

My first vacation day this year isn't until may 18th. and I think I'll be using that for a trip to a MO. conservation area. mid to late summer is usually a lot easier for me to get away, just because of my work schedule.

Official Signup Thread HERE.

Gathering has to be April 6-8.

Sorry for those that cannot make it. There will be another meet in October so you can start planning now. Also, you guys could organize a separate event.

Some of you have got me your shirt size but I still am missing some. I will need those within the next week.

Plainsman - Thanks for getting all this together. I am still waiting to see if I'll be able to make this one.

I am a new guy and this is close to home for me, is it open or just members?
Live in Ottawa and my bag is always packed.

Good to have you on the forum. How many are you thinking of bringing? Shirts will go to members but we could probably make room for a guest or two.

I am also interested but not a member of this group. I am new to this site as well. I am in the Great Bend area and have a few friends that get together to hike, camp, bushcraft, anything in the outdoors etc. I would love to attend in april but I will be working that weekend, however, I would be interested in meeting or attending your next outing if possible. We have a variety of skills that we would be willing to share and are always interested in learning from others.

Just have to be a member of the forum not the sub group. Great Bend has some pretty nice areas for bushcraft. The next gathering will be in October. I am in the Gyp Hills sw of Medicine Lodge. Whenever you and your group get together, send me a notice and I could probably make it.

I expect I will be alone, my daughter is 25 I could invite her but its Easter so bet she would not make time.
I figured it might be a way to get to know a few folks and put a face to a name, I am very self sufficient and prepared so this will be nothing new to me.

Will do, it would be nice to have you, we get together a lot of the time kind of spur of the moment but the next time we set something up in advance I will let you know.

wife is planning on joining me - but she's a vegetarian, so won't eat much. :)
