So,

here is my first attempt at leather working.

It's a sheath for my broad ax. It's made with scrap leather from hobby lobby "it's fuzzy on both sides". I'm pretty proud of it. Took me a long time to stitch it, and put in the rivets. I had to drill out one since I put it in the wrong way, another one is hanging off the edge a little bit but it should hold fine.

I even waxed it which made it stiffer.

I couldn't find a brass snap small enough to fit, though i was a little rushed after some dude hit on me in Joanne's. I feel weird enough going into fabric/craft stores as it is. I think I might send in my wife for stuff from now on.

haha...that' s funny on the joannes thing!

as for your work- it's easy to see why you'd be proud of it - Congrats!

Looks good, BigD.
I wouldn't worry about some dude hitting on you in Joanne's. Just tell him you aren't interested, and he'll likely move along. If not, he is probably enjoying your disconfiture, and is thus being a jerk. You've met jerks before too. I only encourage you to not let another's sexual preferences dictate the limits of your activities, else you give him power over you. Besides, your wife will not be able to look through the leather to pick the pieces that best suit your needs.
Take care,
Malcolm

Great work mate, looks cracking and your axe edge will be a lot safer.

Sorry to laugh at your expense, man, but that was funny. I go into these types of stores also, usually with my kids but also to look at stuff like blocks of paraffin and gel wax. They have some leather working stuff there also.

Nice job on the sheath, I want to make one like that for my Fiskars.
