I had to work 48 this past weekend, I needed some dirt time in a bad way. I hit the woods, and worked on several things, cooked lunch and enjoyed a nice fire. Nice day out.

Did alot of Axe stuff today. Fell the trees for my bush chair and chopped and split some firewood. Im getting more confident with my axe which is nice. I really like the 19in Wett. Despite the complaints people have been having on em lately, mine was very nice new, and has held up great. Gave it a coat of linseed again this am, and a nice sharpening for the days work.

Used the Turley for a splitwood fire. This is a great knife, and thanks to Izs great convex sharpening videos, and the one on varied grinds, I can now get a screamin edge on it. I havent taken it easy on this blade one bit. I beat on it, HARD, and use it almost daily. Its my favorite knife.

After lunch I made some fish hooks. Carving done with Turley. Cordage is Art sinew. I love this stuff, and keep a spool in my PSK. All done with only stuff from my PSK. The hole in the one was dons with the Farmer Awl and a blanket pin.

Honey locust gouge with rock sinker. Took a bit before I busted up a rock that would work right.

I also have a 19" Wett. I got mines over 6 years ago, I am very pleased with the quality of it, kinda sucks that it seems like the QC is going downhill

Lookin good man, I'm liking my Eberlestock as well

Some mighty fine work accomplished this day brother. Thanks for taking us along.

that's really cool you got some time out, J!

that's some great creativity with the 'made' fishing stuff - congrats.

Lovin' some lunch brother. Sausage addict here! Fish hooks are rocking. Couldn't take a pic of your self in the chair? :D

Outstanding J....way to get it done with little time.

I'm digging the fishing set ups...

Acorn float bobber = awesomeness!

Awesome stuff bro glad you like your new pack

That is mighty bushcrafty sir! You need some fluffy white stuff (ahem not dandruff). Looks like a great way to blow off all that OT and get back in tune!

Yep those fish hooks look nice, particularly the use of the honey locust thorn as a barb. Where you you get the black artificial sinew? I have a big roll of the tan stuff from Tandy but it was the only color I saw they had there. Anyhow thanks for the pics.

Thanks bro, I get alot of stuff from http://www.theleatherguy.org/LACE-15922/Sinew-135707.aspx He is a very nice guy, and good to do business with. He has a ton of sinew. Im actually about out of Tan. Its what I use on my sheaths too. I buy it buy the 300yd spools. For a kit, it makes AWESOME cordage. Screw tarred bank line, this is the good stuff. LOL

Great stuff J.

It was a bit chillier then it has been today, wind was pretty strong. We do need some snow. Its been a weird winter this year so far. Very warm.

Thanks guys, I appriciate the kind words. I had a nice time. Nothing puts a hurt on a long weekend at work like a fire and some coffee, and some shraftin.

Great way to decompress after a long weekend of work. Good lookin' fire prep and I like the fishhooks and the bush chair!
