Well saw Adahy's beautiful set of Wood Jewel Puukko's and JUST had to have a set... As everyone said, Ragnar ws the guy to go to.
Knives came so fast it is hard to believe! top notch Ragnar!!
Anyway, I am stunned by the beautiful fit and Finnish of these inexpensive knives, but amazed when I old them as to how functional they FEEL!
I am not real impressed with the edge, the smaller knife has on small area about 2cm long that is barely shaving sharp. The bigger Puukko had no shaving sharp parts on the blade. Upon inspection, it almost looks like they have a secondary bevel just on the edge?? I want to sharpen them bad, but want to make sure they are a true Scandi grind before proceeding.
Also, I love the sheath. Damn well made!! But question on that too.. It seems very dry. Would a slight touch of mik oil help just to soften a bit, or are they supposed to be dry?

Cannot wait to put these to use, simply beautiful work!

Good score...a photo would be very nice....

If it is anything like my Wood Jewel it is a fine knife. Mine came with a reasonably large secondary grind. I did not flatten it to a zero Scandi, but just convexed the secondary on a strop.

You may want to flatten it a bit to get it sharper then just micro-convex the secondary. That makes for a fine tool.

My sheath was relatively thin soft leather over a plastic insert. A little bit of wax would not hurt it a bit. I shy away from Mink oil on sheaths as it makes them very soft.

Here is the one I have...

Sorry, what good is a post without pictures?? LOL!
Here are a couple shots of the Puukko's. Going to post the spoon knife in a separate thread. Check it out, you will probably be surprised how bad condition it was in.. Maybe they all come like that??
These Puukko's are really works of art, although they are tough as nails tools too!
My sheath is really thick, stiff leather. Rubbed on some wax today... Also sharpened them, full Scandi grind.. NOW they are shaving sharp..

You guy's are NO HELP AT ALL!!! Here I am tryin g veeeery hard Not to order these.......and then ya go postin these pics.

I need another couple knives like I need a hole in my head, but then I do have only one puuko.

Yeah those look real nice. I do not remember mine having any real issues with the edge except for a larger than I like secondary.

Like I said, I got mine from a pal on the forum here. He started to tackle the secondary bevel but decided it was too much work. I got them and took them to the stones for a couple hours. The bevel is almost all the way gone now. They shave wood really nice. The little guy in the set is now my favorite whittling knife.

Maybe one day Ragnar will hire me as his photographer. I get the feeling he sold a handful of these sets from reading the comments on that post I made.

Watch that leather strap that ties to your belt. Mine came loose and made me waste an hour of daylight tracking them down.

Yeah, I read your post... Thanks for the heads up!
I got together a pretty slick sanding wood, and have from 220 to 900 grit waterproof sandpaper... Working very well. I shaved a spot on my thigh today after 30 min working on the edge of my beloved Fiskars Hatchet... Just got the FANTASTIC Kydex sheath made for me by a guy on the Blade Forum site... Really sweet sheath.
