I found a guy on Ebay that is selling these, and had him forge me one. I added the rawhide and wrap. But man this thing is sweet. And only cost me $38 shipped! Came with a sheath to, but I'm working on a more fitting one.

That looks nice, great patch knife. Does it hold an edge well?

Seems too so far. All I have done is some shavings and cut some leather. But I think it will work for my purpose, as a patch knife just fine.

I was just watching one of those on eBay, wondering if they're any good. Thanks.

Neat idea. I am sure your handy work will complete the package.

Oh My Goodness That is far out! Wow! Great job on the wrap too Man.
very Cool little blade

Looks pretty cool brother. Not to bad of a price either.

That's a first for me... seen plenty of railroad spike knives but not a horseshoe. Thanks for sharing.

Horseshoes are made from mild steel (not enough carbon to harden) so it won't hold an edge like a "real knife".

Modern shoes (hand made or commercially manufactured) are typically A36...less commonly, maybe 1018ish.

Antique shoes, like those found out in an old farm field are likely wrought iron...virtually no carbon at all.

That said, folks used soft metal blades for a very long time before they learned to make high carbon steel.

Good job Skab. That looks great. Totally your style. Great price on em too.
