Apparently they will stop carrying these soon, and change brands at a local hardware store. I left my number and told the owner to call me if he finds "the box" of those knives he has in the back.

I'm letting my creative juices flow and then will get to work modifying this one. However, I do like the length, so I may just work the edge and make a sheath.

Nice find! I picked up one for .50 at a flea market. Cleaned some sticky crap off of it and sharpened it well. The thing will cut you if you look at it too hard! Mine is more the boning style blade and a little too long for my taste. I will probably shorten it at some point.

I love Old Hicks. I have this one and a matching skinner blade that my grandfather used to butcher on the farm 60-70 years ago.

I have that one and love it. Paid $11 at my local hardware. I bought it to modify, but love it so much as is that I haven't messed with it. I processed 2 deer this year, using only this knife. Love it!

Good find

He had two others sitting on his clearance table as well, package soaked through and blades were really rusty. I was gonna offer him a quarter each, but I wasn't sure there was much metal left to even cut up for a just knife stock.

If he finds the box, and its not had the same fate as the other two knives, i will hopefully pass them out here at cost if Koa and Faol don't mind. I can't see letting an opportunity like this go by.

:11: I look and look for these in my neck of the woods and can never find any. One of these days though I am going to find one and snap it up quick. :4:

Smokey Mountain has them for a decent price. The last one I bought new was in 03 or 04. Walmart was closing them out for $1-2 a piece. I grabbed several. Kept one and gave the rest away. I have ones from my family. One thing I like to do is knock off that scimitar bump on the top, ditch the handle finish and rub it down with oil.

Just flatten the spine and you have a poor man's Leuku. I'd LOVE to have one too, and I'd throw in a couple bucks extra for the trouble and finders fee. ;)

Iwould so love to fund a few more of those. I modded mine a while back. I wish I hadn't now, because although I now have a fine little blade, I don't have my go-to meat blade for bbq tri-tips, brisket and ribs any more. I butcher my own from bulk buys a lot...kinda needed that blade.

Sweet find!!!

If you can still get the rusty ones for a quarter a pop, I'll gladly repay you and pay shipping to get them.

There's something left under there and I'd love to find out what it is!
