Hi all -

today I got mine in the mail! :) Many thanks to all who went before me on this.

Croatoan (I believe) was first to post up his - he called it a "foraging bag"

then I read a thread about it again from SuperTramp (I see his pics are down on that thread...so I won't link it here...) and I had an idea....

I liked Croatoan's idea of a ' belt mod'...but wanted something a bit different.

After a few emails from Eric at FR....and for only an extra $5.00....
they put 4 re-inforced grommets at the top for me:

my ideasfor this bag are:
1. some paracord for a quick shoulder sling.
2. a shorter amount of cord - for a "cinch" at the top - and I can hang it off a pack...or perhaps thread it thru my belt...
3. or use it as a wrist "man bag" clutch....:4: (I know I beat SOMEBODY to that! :16: )

This bag folds FLAT, guys n gals....great little bag to take in regular pack and have an 'extra' bag of good size.
and as much as many FR bags are...this one is a real bargain beggin' to be modded. (to me)

pretty sure it's gonn be my lunch bag too - starting tommorrow. :p

after my 'usual' canvas or leather treatment - on the leather around the grommets - Dr. Martens Wonder Balsalm.
only 3 ingredients, all natural. (you know, in case you have to boil and eat your bag....lol!)

Very cool mod. I have one of these waiting for me under the Christmas tree from my sister.

I hope it matches your hikers. You'll be the sexiest guy in the woods with a bag that matches your shoes! :9:
 
That's sweet! I wish you had done this before I bought mine - then I would of totally copied you - great idea!
 
Why the yellow for the grommet reinforcement? Other than that I say that's the best lunchbox since my Star Wars original from 1978 that I used in Kindergarten.

SuperTramp - sorry, man, but I'm sure they'd do the same mod for you (or anyone) for the $5. (and the shipping, of course.)

I will try to get a pic in the woods very soon.
it looks a LOT better tonight after I put some treatment on the new leather around the grommets to make it look more rustic.

don't ya wish you still had that lunchbox, friar? heck, you could sell it and buy the FR bushcrafter pack AND the lunch sack, lol. :p

well, I wasn't terribly happy about the 'yellow' leather either...but as you can see from my added pic in the first post...it darkens up nicely with a little treatment.
It's probably just what they had lying around to re-inforce the grommets...but it looks great now.
 
i like it!!! that really adds to the versitility of the bag, of course you knew that already...woods
