Im having trouble finding a quality German m43 field cap. every time I find one, I find out that it is made in china. Is there a M43 field cap out there that is not made in china?

I think I might be able to help, as I got one myself earlier this year.
It's 100% wool and NOT made in China + reasonably priced.

Send me a pm, while I'll try to find the company I got it from. The pm keeps me from forgetting it....

:4:

I got mine from a Dutch retailer, but looking at Panzer's link, you can't beat that price + shipping, I guess.

I think its great that some oldier gentlemen are still wearing them. Classic look in my opion.

At The Front makes the best historical reproduction on the market. They are ment to last.

I have heard good things about them too, but in reading the description of the hat it says it is a cardboard visor stiffener instead of a plastic one. I would hope it keeps its shape over time as it gets wet.

I emailed the guy; he said on examination it was some blue stuff, not cardboard. I'm sure if the originals were cardboard the stuff was waterproofed, like the "bonded cardboard" he thought they were made of.

ATF does good stuff -- don't have any of their German stuff, but I've got M41 and tanker jackets from them that have held up very well. (Their stuff is made in China, in ref to the OP's mention of that, but it's made to their specs. The owner is of the opinion making stuff in the US would be same quality for double price and the market for repro WW2 stuff won't support it.)

This guy http://www.ebay.com/usr/slangvel does M43s in modern camo patterns, if that is appealing, though he doesn't have constant inventory on evil bay.

I have a Sturm M43 that is made in Germany. It has held up well for 12 years. That was then, for all I know Sturm may be made in China now.

Try Lost Battalions. Some of the most historicaly made reproduction German Uniforms currently available. They get all the little details correct.
