Good waterproofing Recipe:
Cut up one ping pong ball into small pieces and place in shallow polyethelene container.
While stirring, add small amount of Acetone until pieces are dissolved enough to use a small paintbrush to apply to wooden matches. One coat on match head is good. several coats to wood portion of match will enhance it's burnability.
Smash ball, cut into strips for good fire starter.
