I ordered a coat, an italian pilots bag and a german gas mask bag from this company. The coat was very nice as described. The Italian pilots bag was not the same that they had pictured but a nice bag which I decided to keep as well. But unfortunately the german gas mask bag was not sent but instead a swiss gas mask bag was sent which I do not like at all. I sent an email to the company last friday. They list that they are open Saturday so I expected an answer about a return shipping label but it is Tuesday and I have no response from them yet. I will try calling tomorrow during working hours if my work schedule permits ( I have all the corporate bigwigs for Texas in my facility doing a mock survey- makes for long days and little time. It is a small operation and I like to do business with the little guy but the lack of a response bothers me. The bags are not even similar. If they were I would just go with it and it wouldnt be an issue. The cost of the bag is only $5 but to me it is the principle. I found a different company that has Finn gas mask bags in stock for cheap so I may just go with them. I will let you know if they do right or not.

I ordered a USMC ILBE pack from them a couple of years ago. It took 6 months, multiple failed phone calls and emails for me to finally get ahold of him to tell him I was reporting him to the BBB. (Better Business Bureau)

I can't believe his website is still up and running.

BTW: The pack I ordered said it was in "like new" shape but showed up with dirt clogs falling out of it, mud packed in the buckles, and ripped.

Not a good company to deal with.

Good luck getting ahold of him.

I also had a bad experience with them and it took almost a half year to get my money back. I pretty much had to threaten to go to the credit card company and report fraud.

I posted here at that time that gunnysurplus.com was to be avoided if one wants to avoid hassles and disappointments.

Sounds like someone is trying to give Gunnies a bad name! I resent that.

That is disappointing...I ordered some items from them last year, and despite the fact that there were some issues with the order, he was willing to work with me to ensure that I was satisfied. Communication did take a while, but at least he didn't get defensive about anything the way that some sellers do, and was willing to work things out. I particularly appreciated it that he had (in my case) contacted me up front about a potential problem, which not everyone does.

I suspect that small milsurp dealers work on a really slim profit margin, so I am not overly surprised when it takes them a while to respond - given that I am usually going for really good bargains (read CHEAP), no one is making a big profit off of me, so I just don't expect too much. I only get upset if someone blatantly rips me off and then tries to keep my money after I call them out, which has been pretty rare. That being said, I have learned, unfortunately, to take descriptions for surplus items from almost any website with a really big grain of salt. It got so bad that, out of curiosity, I went back over all the various surplus vendors (including Ebay stores) I had records of that I had ordered from, to see what fraction were completely trouble free. Turns out that, IIRC, over two thirds had some kind of issue at one point or another - either inaccurate descriptions, lack of responsiveness, unapproved substitutions or cancellations, or something. The most common issue was inaccurate descriptions.

The lessons to me are that 1) when you buy surplus off the internet you are always rolling the dice. If you can afford to take the chance, and are willing to tolerate some kind of disappointment every once in a while, you can get some pretty good deals. For me, the low price and wider selection compared to brick and mortar stores in my area has outweighed the bad, and 2) I have to remember not to take really good customer service for granted. When you do find an small online vendor with excellent customer service, give them credit and recommend them to others - they have earned it.

I hope that it works out for you...hang in there, try to work with him, and I think that it will work out in the end. Good luck!

I'm not passing judgement on this company and have never dealt with him but... when I hear of thing like this it makes me wary. Caveat emptor and I make my judgements on who I deal with by what I can find out wither good or bad and I doubt I'd do business with him.

Thanks for letting it be known.

Not with this kind of stuff but friend of mine fought with an electronics company to get them to refund the money for a film scanner he had sent back cause it wasn't new as described anyway the point of that he got his credit card company involved. Soon as they contacted them took a matter of a couple days before he got the refund give them a try
