Latley Ive had the bug for Frost River stuff and right after Christmas I put in an order for a few things and they arrived today so I loaded em up and head off to my camp. Yesterday I got to watching Cris Caines youtube channel showing off his survival tool and it made me want to go out and soley use my Turley Z-SERE (similar kind of deal only better haha) So I made a split wood fire using a massive piece of Maple (I think) made coffee played with my bags packing and unpacking trying to get a feel of how they would work for me and Ive got to say Im super imppressed I plan on doing a long hike this week with em all loaded up to see how it rides for long periods of time.

All packed up with everything needed for an overnighter

Cant remember who exactly I learned this technique form but it was definatley from a member here but it works great getting feathers and scrapings with a big knife

The prep all done up used the Z-SERE to strike the ferro rod to start er up

Great pics bro. Cool bag too. I dont remember where I saw that tech, but I came upon it while doing the one handed fire for Izs tab. Works great. Sometimes the things you learn doing something carry over to other skills quite nicely. Well done.

I love your sig line. hahaha

Ha! Cody ain't no dummy, he's chillin' out on the comfy spot.
That's a neat looking pack.
Good stuff, man.

nice gear, Kerri! congrats!

the feather stick / shaving technique for a large blade.... very cool - will be trying some of that! :D

cool.

Im tempted to go try that method of making shavings now. Do you think it works better than the traditional way?

With a large knife its works great This is the way I usually do it with a machete or a bolo its alot easier than trying to balance a large blade while doing em

Good stuff man! Is that the full sized Isle Royal?

What are your initial impressions? Would love to see the full load out and how you packed it.

Yeah its the full sized, Im loving it so far everything about it is top knotch work they did an amazing job and I used this guys advice on packing it
The Bushcrafter backpack - YouTube

Not the same bag but similar enough that the same techniques work. I also got a smaller knapsack for kind of a possibles/ day bag kind of thing and its pretty great as well

Nice thread man as usual. So from what I am gathering you feel the pack is worth the money? Have been contemplating it myself. Not a purchase to be taken lightly. Love the way you set it all up. No surprise though coming from a person who goes and does as much as you do.

Lookin good Kerri... Looks like Cody found himself a nice spot today too..!

Ski

Nice looking kit and camp setup. Think I'm going to place my pack order with them 2 weeks out from now. You're fueling the fire! :30:

Ill keep you posted on it as I use it a little more if you'd like. But so far it holds more than plenty I don't get to do to many overnighters for fun but it holds everything id need for one and I walked around the property all loaded up with probably around 45 to 50 pounds and it was comfortable granted I walked maybe half a mile tops with it on. So far I think its definatley worth the money

I always like to see a shelter-half camp! Thanks for the great photos.

Damn Kerri I love that pack. You show off. That ain't no common man's pack for sure. Looks like an awesome day out!

But its got the basically survivability that every common man needs BROTHER lol

I love the way that pack looks. Also on my list after I save for a couple of years haha.
Keep us posted on how she works out, would love to know if she is as functional as she is beautiful.

Lookin' good man.

I've read a number of reviews/posts where people thought the Isle Royale was too big of a pack but from your pics that looks about right to me for an overnighter or multi-night size. Helps a lot seeing it actually loaded up with real gear instead of just a bunch of pillows or whatever :)

The Turley 'hawk looks pretty sweet in that axe sleeve. Hope you've been giving that thing a workout, 'cause I'm looking forward to your long term review :D
