... Paco Warabi's bug net or Ray Mears suspension method? Paco's bug net consists of netting material constricted around the ends of the hammock and draped over the body of the hammock over the ridge line. He sewed pockets at the edges of the netting into which he put gear to act as weights. When he was in his hammock, the net would conform to the edge of the hammock, sealing him in.

Ray's suspension method involves a ring at the end of the hammock connected to a thin tape about 1/2" wide. He secured each end to a tree with an Evenk hitch and then made an adjustable loop on the ring.

My questions about these things are "is the bug net effective" and does the thin tape mess up the trees?

Thanks,
Rob

I don't know about the bug net but there's not much including rope that's going to hurt the bark of a tree. I know from long years of experience. It's a bunch of tree hugger nonsense. And I mean the human wako kind not the straps.
