For some reason my reply function to your inquiry isn't working.
Anyway, in answer to your query, I never did any article on chronoing a .357 Handi Rifle as the barrel was cut.
I did the original one-pager on Miles Fortis, which was resurrected through the international cooperation of Pablo Moreland of Pereira Colombia and Lone Gunman of Bergmann Arkansas.
Jim Taylor and I did another one pager, which was lost soon after publishing where we chrono'd his WC820 Mil-Surp powder. But only out of my 16 1/2" NEF. I haven't seen that one for years, but the gist was the ease with which we exceeded the 1895 30-30 ballistics-160 at 1900.
You may be thinking of a fine article where C E Harris chrono'd a 9 1/2 .32 Mag Ruger as he cut the barrel back in stages. Actually all of C E Harris' articles were good.
There was another in the old "Machinegun News" where they took some old H&R singleshot 12G, NFA registered it, and then did chrono, patterning and penetration tests. They cut the 28" barrel back in increments until they got to the forend iron-I think that was around 6 1/2 inches.
Regarding Jim-he's fine, but Twyla has had some low grade but stubborn illness which was fatigued her for weeks. A private clinic in Pemba has her on medication, and she's some better. She may end of going either to church friends in Cape Town for some recuperation, or maybe back to the US.
I hope to see them in Africa about a year from now. My girlfriend has moved to San Diego to care for parents, and I am flying out to see her in MAR this year. That money is out of my Mozambique budget. So it's all kind of shaky. Flying more than once in the same decade boggles my little mind.
It's 15 degrees Fahrenheit here, with a windchill down to 2. Bet it's nicer in Huh-VYE-uhh.
