Does anyone know if the High standard 9 shot KIT-GUN is the same as the Sentinel? The KIT-GUN was marketed for trappers, Backpackers ect. Here is a pic of my HS stamped KIT-GUN on the barrel.

I believe the Sentinel was made with a windage adjustable rear sight blade, fully adjustable rear sight, a slim barrel like yours , and a barrel with an ejector shroud,at different times in the production, in different combinations. All HS revolvers were nice guns for the $$.

The rear sight is off in the pic for minor repair. Thanks for the info and yes she is a great little woods bumming gun for the $.

I have a HS Sentinel Deluxe and the grip isn't like yours. Mine is one of the most comfortable handling revolvers I own. I love it!

Interesting link.

I always thought they were ugly as sin, but after reading that info I'm intrigued.

There were some very good design features in that gun.

ETA: the break down into major sub-components sounds a lot like the SP101.

Ol' Bill Ruger must have been paying attention.

Another option for a woods gun, Heritage Rough Rider, .22/.22mag, really accurate, very packable and very inexpensive. I use this gun a lot and it has held up well. Hope the pic works, first try on here. Advice if it does'nt.

That's a cool gun bluedevil! I have always had a soft spot to .22WMR. Do u use this caliber most or the .22LR? Many convertible .22s don't shoot well in the LR version since the barrel is made for magnums.

When I'm out in the woods or fishing I use the mag, practice at the range mostly with long rifle but always end up with a few mags to end the session. I use Win or CCI for the mags and the Velocitor for regular long rifle use. In Colo you have to watch for mountain lions and bear but other than that a reg .22 if enough. Have backpacked all over the state for over 45 years and the most dangerous thing that ever happened was 2 dobermans who got loose from someones camp and came after the wife and I. Just as I was ready to shoot the owner got them under control. Your head is your best weapon.

Here is my Sentinel Deluxe. This is my favorite woods gun now. I pair it with my Remington 521 or my Rossi 20ga single shot.

I just put some money down on a Sentinel at a local gun shop. I'm stoked! It is just what I've been looking for in a trail gun. It is a R-103 version and seems to be in great shape - looks a lot like Taliesin's.
