Bummer man. I lost one just like that when i was a young kid. If i remember correctly, it was a Swiss Gear knife, not Victorinox. But, it was my first knife, a Christmas gift from my mother. i wish to this day that i still had it!

Man I sure do hate you lost that. I just got a farmer model from BCO and I'm in love. Now I want one of these lol

Oh no... not good. Do you know of anyone who has a metal detector? With that knife laying on top of the surface and if you can find your way back to your spot it wont take very long for it to be found back again.

Marsh.

I was going to suggest this too, so I'll just add +1. With a quick ad on your local online classified site (like kijiji or craigslist) you may be able to find a local treasure hunter willing to lend a hand for the fun of the hunt, or perhaps a small reward. I myself have successfully recovered a knife for a friend in the woods with my detector.

That really sucks been there done that,More then I care to admit lets just say I wore out that t-shirt and then started putting lanyards on things haven't had a repeat in 10yrs !! So my suggestion is if you get it back lanyard it or start the replacement out with one. Good Luck finding it

Go to the place you removed the splinter. Scour the area. Then double check every pocket, not just the pocket you normally carry it in, again. Then check every pocket on your pack again.
I have a friend that has to buy a new knife every year because he buys camouflage handled, black bladed knives because he feels he must be "totally camouflaged" when hunting or in the Woods. He lays them down after dressing out a deer or doing a chore and then can't find them even after looking all day. I bought him the same knife she always buys except the handle is Blaze orange about 4 years ago. He rarely uses it but when he does(usually after he loses one of his camo knives) he never loses it. So another nod of the head about the orange para-cord lanyard.
