Well leather guys, I now have the bug. I picked up a delux leatherwork beginner kit from Tandy right at two months ago now. It all started with wanting to make an axe sheath and now its just rampant. Here are some projects I have been working on.

Forgive the gut!!! I am happily married, only excuse I have!!!

Next projects include a hedgehog sheath clone for my S&W SRK and pancake holster for my Glock 22.

Sweet work! I really like your leather bottles and the scenery carved on the Hawk sheath. Another note, your basket stamping is -really- even, great job there! Message me if you have any questions and i'll try to help!

Nice work! I have also taken an interest in leatherworking. I went all over town looking for supplies and all of them said the same thing: Tandy. There is a Tandy about 40 miles from the house so I intend to head over there next weekend.

Lookin good! Just make sure to make EVERYTHING you might possibly want for yourself before offering services to others. If not, you'll never get around to finishing a project for yourself! Atleast, this is my experience...

I have been goofing off with leather for a few years(when I can actually afford some leather) and I haven't even touched carving yet. I gotta catch up! Great work man!

Great job. I am just getting started with leather work myself. In fact heading to Springfield leather today to pick up some more leather and a few new tools. It is very addictive. I have not tried doing any tooling yet but plan to move on to that when I get a little better at making items.

Nice stuff. I have yet to try leather crafting but will. I love the tooling but don't have the patience so my stuff will be plain.

I already know this all too well. The hawk holster and sheath are the only thing I have made so far for myself. The billfold was for my father, the flask's were for my father in law and step father in law, checkbook cover for the wife.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I will continue to post my new projects as they come along.

Impressive! Your basket weave tooling is top notch!!!

Thank you, I can point out every little imperfection. Took some getting use to for sure. I found not to get to far ahead on the next line. It was kinda like writing sentences in school.

Do:

I will not talk in class.

I will not talk in class.

Dont:

I will not

I will not

I will...

Im sure you guys remember. Just finish the first one before moving to the next one.

I've been wanting to get into leather work for some time. The cost of tools and such make me run away. I'm anticipating things calming down at the shop so I can have time to just get out. Leather work will come. I just have to force myself to let go of some cash.

Understand letting go of money. I looked at it as a gift to myself that has allowed me to make gifts for others. I am a people pleaser so it was easy to give the things away that I have made.

That goes to show it is hand made, what you see as imperfection others will see as craftsmanship. Your doing some impressive work. Fair warning it can be addictive as it looks like your finding out

Tools can be simple and ones you make or improvise, or ones you spend a lot on. Something to cut with, mark and make holes, and something to stitch with. The leather needles are about $2.00 for a 10 pack at Tandy or look at the sewing section at Walmart. For leather, use thrift store finds such as purses coats, etc to start with helps keep the cost down.
