I added a piece in order to carry my ferro rod on my knife sheath. But was playing around with some paracord and the ferro rod and did this. I have added a snap to the ferro lanyard.

This can be used as a dummy cord for the ferro rod. I have a loop dangler on my sheath.

Or I can attach a small canister in order to have some tinder-quick fire tabs or any meds you might want close.

Of course, any number of small attachments, i.e., whistle, LED light, etc., could be added singly. Wouldn't want to overdo it though.

How do you keep that paracord and rod together. Wouldn't it just slip out with the slightest friction being so smooth? Or did you glue it on?

I drilled a small hole in the ferro rod and then did 3 cobra knots to the long end but didn't tighten it. Then fed the working ends back up underneath the knots toward the short end and tightened it all down. Repeated it for the snap end.
