I have been using a Kelty Slickrock 6000 pack for the last 6-7 years. Its been a good pack, it got me through two weeks at Philmont, a couple other week-longs, and lots of weekends, but its time for a replacement. If I have one complaint about that pack, it is that it has never especially comfortable. Not to say that it was uncomfortable or caused problems, I just felt like there must be better suspensions out there.

The recent Kifaru thread has piqued my interest in their packs. I have no doubts about Kifaru's quality, that's why they made my short list. So my question is...how does the Kifaru wraptech and wraptech plus suspension rate with you guys? I know that this is a subjective question and mileage may vary, but for those who have use multiple packs, what do you think? I am considering the ZXR, Timberline 2, and Timberline 3 as replacements.

I have several Kifaru Packs as well as Kelty, Gregory, USGI, Blackhawk, CamelBak packs.

I would have to rate the Kifaru suspension system a 9/10.

Without going into "too much detail", the things I like about it:
*Delta straps pull the pack evenly to your back and contours to your body.
*Great padding.
*Functional designs.
*Extreme quality.
*Keeps pack from putting any weight on your shoulder tops.
*ETC, ETC, ETC...

If you get one, you'll love it!

If you follow the weight ratings Kif suggests, they are VERY comfortable. If you push it above those ratings, they are still better than most cheaper bags.

You still have to fit it and pack it right--you can't cheat gravity and geometry.

Thanks for the opinions...I think I'm going to give one a try. If I don't like it, I can always sell it and try again, they seem to hold their value pretty well.

Now to decide which one...so many choices!
