Leather Messenger Bags

Anyone got one? I looked in the search place, and didn't see a large topic, but i really like the leather bag. Brings out hte Indiana Jones in us, and is just cool. Not a purse, but a shoulder bag, like seen in times of old, where a man had his things. I guess this could be called a "possibles bag" but this is a Leather bag. What you guys think? Anyone make one? I know that in the Vender Sub forums, down in the pit, Adventure Sworn is in the process of making them(Called "Journeyman Bags"). Give it a look, but until then, anyother bags.

I looked online for a leather mail bag one time. Ended up on Ebay and they had a few, but they are expensive. I just checked and there are some on Ebay now. And again, they ain't cheap.

Howdy all,

Brother Swede, what size bag are you looking for (i.e. dimensions). If its in the neighbor hood of 400- 500 cubic inches, a leather satchel type purse might be the ticket. I picked up a used, black, Coach purse off of Ebay for $40.00 shipped. After a very few mods on my part, you really can't tell it was a purse. Also, the used condition, makes it look nice and broken in. Just my .02 on getting a nice leather bag for much less. hope this helps.

I have made many of bags from leather purses I have picked up for a couple of bucks at yard sales.....alot of time just for the leather.

Two of these were purses, with mods....can you tell which they are?

I have a sketch an measurements done up for a leather satchel thats gonna be part satchel, part maxped jumbo in that it will have a water bottle holder on the side. All done in thick leather like a saddleback bag.

I'm pretty sure Indy used a WWII British gas mask bag with the addition of a leather strap instead of the webbing one. That bag ofcourse technically didn't exist yet in the waorld timeline but hey its the movies they can do anthing. Not to much of a geek I hope.

Another canvas alternative is the Domke series of camera bags. I have used these for years all over the world and they are outstanding.

The real term is possibles pouch. used by the mountain men and anyone else who carried a blackpowder rifle/shotgun. NOT a purse, unless you want to go back in time and tell Jim Bridger he carried a purse?

Deepwoods leather makes some messenger and shoulder bags from leather. Though he has a bit of wait time on his stuff.
