Hey all,
Some know me, most don't. I've been a member here for almost 2 years. In that time I've learned alot and met (virtually) alot of you great people as we share a common love of bushcraft and the outdoors.
This has been a very hard year for me. Probably my worst as an adult to date. In May I lost my grandmother whom I was very close to. And as the saying seems to go, later in the year in October I lost my grandfather on my dad's side. I'm 28 years old. To be this old and still have all my grandparents (they've all divorced and remarried mind you, I have 4 sets) has been a blessing. I realize there are lots of people who don't have their grandparents the way I have and I am very grateful and blessed for that.
This site has been my anchor, well next to the Good Book, anyways. The people here on BCUSA and the discussions have become profoundly more precious to me in the last 6 months than almost anything. The camaraderie, amicable debates and challenges we put to each other as well as the way this community comes together for members in need is truly a blessing. In fact it may be sad, but I've more "friends" here on this site than I do in real life. The real sad fact about that is I've yet to meet anyone from BCUSA yet.
I just wanted to say thank you BCUSA. Thank you for being a cut above the rest, a true community and not just a forum. As we approach a new year I can only hope that as things continue to get rougher for us as a nation, that BCUSA will continue to pull closer together. Which I have no doubt it will.
2012 is a new year with many new challenges. I'd ask you if you haven't yet, set some bushcraft goals for yourself. Get Bushclass basic knocked out, go on that overnighter or even as simple as just getting out in the woods a little more for this new year. Escaping to the woods this last year has helped me keep a level head about everything that has gone on in my life. I look forward to all that BCUSA will go through this new year and watching everyone grow and hopefully grow a little myself.
Thank you Mods for keeping this place a cut above the rest. And I'd also like to thank the woodsmen I look up to on here and who inspire me to push my skills to the next level.
Love you BCUSA!
Cheers,
Nick
