I really like the feel on this machete but hated the orange paint so I stripped it. I was going to sand the handles flush but I would have had to remove a bit of metal that I didnt want to lose. So now it has oak handle with brass pins. I still have some shaping to do the I am going to stain it and treat it.

I have one and never minded the orange , that is until now - looks great!!

I never figured the orange out, except that if you laid it down it'd be easy to find. When I worked as a Surveyor, we did that with orange spray paint. Looks 1000% better though! How do you like the Marbles. I've been thinking about picking up their Bowie style machete.

i've got one of the their jungle cleavers, a great blade for the $ IMO. The color actually does have value, makes it harder to lose in the woods....

The orange color of the Marbles machete line prevented me from buying one for years but when the Bolo bug finally bit me, and after looking around the Marbles was the best value at $14.99 including sheath and stone from SMKW. I'm going to leave mine alone for the time being and see if I get used to the color. ;)

If you are the Only user striped is no problem.

I use to want every thing camo, OD green. Then I added a red "remove before flight" bomb tag my BIL gave me to my key chain. I started finding my keys in no time cause the bright red stood out. Then I got a blaze orange handled knife. Now I attach blaze orange to EVERYTHING of value that is going to the woods. Flash lights, saws, lighters, if its orange it is most likely mine. It is so easy to find and notice you are leaving it behind. It just makes things easy. I never had a fav color growing up. Each color had its own good points. Now as an adult my fav color is BLAZE ORANGE, and I dont lose anything any more! Love me some orange. Now with that said its all relative to the amount. I dont get dressed up like tangerine but a tag or lanyard with blaze orange sure does help me find and or not forget things when I put them down in a hurry.

If you do not want to paint BO use a BO cord works well and you can hang it up for others That are trusted to use a Tool to see.

One for the Bush- Marbles Machete

I think it’s safe to say I’m a machete guy. For bush skills in the tropics, big blades rule. There is almost the complete absence of the medium sized fixed blade, except for in the kitchen.

I got the Marbles 14” machete a few months ago and finally had a chance to use it on a bush trip in the jungle. It follows the recent trend of a US company having their blades made in Central America and assembling them in the US.

Two stand out features are: A convex edge and a useable sharp point. The blade is my favorite thinness, 3/32”.

At this point the Marbles logo was all rubbed off

The sharp point makes incising animals possible.

Worthy of real world bush use in the jungle.
Combined with a small SAK, there isn’t much one couldn’t do in the Green Hell!

BTD - Great stuff! I have one the Marbles Jungle Cleavers and have found it to be useful and very tough. I think Marbles doesn't get enough praise for this line.

I agree 100%!!!

I have the Camp Cleaver and the 14" Bolo Machete and they are both EXCELLENT tools!

I like the Tramontina Bolo because it doesn’t have that sharpened top portion that tears up a baton.

For those not in the know, Marble's machetes are produced for them by Imacasa, which is Condor's parent company. They're sort of halfway between a standard Imacasa and a Condor in terms of fit/finish in that the handles come rough like an Imacasa but the edge is sharpened and polished like a Condor. :)

Yes, the handle comes a little "blocky." Maybe my first picture shows the thicker, wider handle. The following pics show the handle after a lot of sanding.
