I carried this flashlight for years counting inmates in the state prision where I work. It finaly wore out and I decided to remake it into something useful.
I took out all the guts and put a divider towards the middle where there was a milled narrowing of the tube. It fit very snug but I apoxied it in place to keep both ends water tight even if one end was open.
I removed the tail button and apoxied a button compass in place on the inside.
I filled the other side with apoxy and after it was cured drilled out a small amount. I think it will work as a bearing block for a bow drill.
I removed the lens and cone reflector and repaced it with a polished alluminum mirror and apoxied it in place.
The end that held the light bulb now holds six cotton balls.
I plan on putting a Spark-Lite, small candle, and some other items in the other end. It will make a great tinder tube.
