I LOVE machetes, and I don't have a Swedish machete yet. :4:
Anyone here familiar with the Mora #333 Ultralight Machete?
yhst-129988217023674_2193_7131251

Product Description
Incredibly lightweight, slim, and Mora-sharp, if there were a whittler's machete this would be it! The light weight allows the 13" blade to be used for standard knife tasks with ease while giving good length for reach and chopping ability when clearing branches and vegetation. This is THE machete for the ultra-light backpacker, and it would be right at home next to a Snowpeak cook set and a Kelty backpack.

The blades are unpolished and left with a smooth matte grey finish from heat treatment. The edge comes from the factory with a prominent burr, which we have removed in-house for maximum performance.

Blade Length: 13"

Overall Length: 18 and 1/2"

Blade Thickness: .06"

Steel: High Carbon

Weight: 7 oz.

how many machetes do you have ? I see a 12 step program in your future.... Hi my name is Ahnkochee and I am a Machete addict...

Looked it up on the MoS site - LINK - It's actually intended for cutting/slicing insulation. Blade thickness of .06"? I think a Tramontina is thicker than that.

...I wouldn't mind one though :4:

I did not know mora made machetes too. Very interesting. If the quality is as good as my 840mg I'd say you can't go wrong at that price!

Did someone say a 12 machete program? lol

That machete is really lite 6oz.

13" blade at .06" thick? Interesting, sounds like it might find a nice niche market somewhere. I'd carry it in my pocket folded in half, that way it I'd never be without a machete or caught unawares when Kudzu strikes!
Seriously though, for someone who might only occasionally need a machete for light vegetation, this could easily be added to existing kit without taking up much space and adding negligible weight. I'd get one :D

They have these for sale at Ragnars Ragweed Forge http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html

#333; This is an even bigger knife designed for insulation work. It's about 18 1/2" with a 13” carbon steel blade. The blade is only .060” thick, and the knife weighs just over 7 ounces. It’s quite light for it’s size. It would be useful for all kinds of things besides insulation work, from butchering very large game to chopping light brush. It comes from the factory with the bur from the grinders left on the edge. I expect this is to give the edge some “tooth” for cutting insulation. You’ll probably want to remove the bur for more general uses. The carbon steel blade is not polished and may have some stains and scratches. It’s made for work, not display. There is no sheath. $30

Twelve step programs are for addicts. I've been buying machetes every week for years and never got addicted so I'm not really convinced such a thing is necessary.

addictions are when you cant have enough of something.... shopaholic, coffee fiend, chocoholic (guity), gearaholic (aren't we all?)... it doesn't have to be a drug to be addictive.... my mom cant get enough knick nacks i'm about to enroll her in a 12 step program... one more knick nack and there is going to be a intervention.:p

Looks cool I thought about getting one, but I imagine the tang is 3/4... I love there 3.4 tangs in a belt knife but for a machete I want a full tang handle that I know can take a baton if need be.

the mora farriers knife on Ragnars is thicker- been wanting one of those for a while- and I think it is only $15...full tang too.
....from Ragnars site....waaay down near the bottom of the page.

#330; This is a farrier's knife used for coarse trimming of hooves and other rough materials. The Triflex carbon steel blade is about 5 1/2" long, with about 4" sharpened. It's about 1 1/8" wide and .097" thick. The rubberized handle is about 5 1/2" long. In old time woodworking shops, similar knives were called "hacking knives" and used for the roughest work. If you want a knife to stand up to serious batoning, this is it. $15.75
