Please be warned, I am not a video maker and I'm using ancient tech (at least 3 years old!) to make this vid. So the sound is bad, the video is scary, and the presentation leaves a lot to be desired. This video stands solely on it's content.

This is my setup for moving quickly, quietly, and efficiently using preplanned menus and premade dehydrated meals. The main priority is light weight and small size.

When I mention weight in the video, it's the weight without fuel. Since fuel amounts are dictated by length of the trip and how many hot meals I want, fuel weight varies a good bit.

My mess kit

Let me know what you think. Unless you didn't like it.

I went out in the garage last night and looked up my old cook set/mess kit. Its my boy scout mess kit, one cup, one small pot with bail , one bowl, and a skillet of sorts, oh, its 52 yrs old. lol I'm 64:], still having fun camping, hunting, fishing, enjoying life, and the great outdoors.

My next larger pot is a 40 year old Girl Scouts of America aluminum pot. And I still own my 75 year old Svea stove. It works great under any circumstances. :dblthumb:

It does, however, weigh a pound empty compared to the 3 oz of the alcohol stove.

The alcohol stove was free, as I took the energy drink bottle out of a neighbor's recycling. And it saved my almost a pound of weight. I'm not going to get too emotional about leaving the Svea behind when I can. As I get older, less weight on my back becomes pretty important as I endeavor to continue to enjoy the outdoors.

I'm not as old as you, but I'm older than your mess kit. :38:
