I dunno about y'all but I have an old school classic mora with a leather looking sheath that was coated in like a urethane coating. It was ugly and I didn't like it.

So I made a kydex sheath for it, with an integral firesteel holder. I would eventually like to add some shock chord to the fire steel.

The sheath attaches to a loop attached to the belt or a belt loop via carabiner that is cobra-braided to the sheath with 550 chord. This gives it the features of a holster with a dangler, and the ability to be fully removed quickly. I haven't seen a carabiner used before.

nice work.. that came out great, especially for a first.. i have yet to try working with kydex..

Thanks man! Its actually pretty easy to work with. Key pieces of equipment that could be found on the cheap at harbour freight are an arbor press and a belt sander, and some quick clamps.

You then need an oven or toaster oven, and a heat gun doesn't hurt either. two pieces of plywood, thick neoprene foam.

the raw materials can be found here: http://www.knifekits.com

Looks great. Wow for your first try you should maybe think about lowering the bar some. Looks pretty good to me, if my first try turned out that nice my wife would never let me buy more kydex to make anymore.;)

Ha-ha, thanks. If you look closely the rivets don't exactly line up on either side. Like I said it pretty easy, with a belt sander. It looked pretty crappy before I shaped it, an uneven rectangle. I just sanded it down by eye. The belt sander removes material fairly quickly so just pay attention to what you are doing.

that looks nice. how is the retention.

The retention is perfect. If I hold the bottom of the sheath and try to fling it to get the knife to come out, it won't. But if you grab the handle and push off the sheath with your thumb it comes right out.
