I just got my first hammock from BCO. I didn't have the time or underquilting to do an overnight, but I did go out, set it up, and hang for a few hours. I intended to film it, but had a slight equipment failure (batteries). Anyway I set it up with my BCUSA tarp (first time setup of that as well) and I love both of them. I just didn't know what i was missing while down ther on the cold hard ground. This thing is great!!!! Now I just have to get to work on an idea I have for converting an old sleeping bag I have to an underquilt!

Congratulations! Life is good amongst the trees.

My first underquilt was a converted sleeping bag. It worked and worked well considering we were car camping and I had less than 10.00 in it. Head over to the hammockforums.net and spend some time reading through their DIY and their Underquilt section. Lots of info there. Searching can be hard. They tend to use short acronyms that their search engine will tell you it can use because its too short or its too common. But once you get a handle on what words to use you'll find a ton of stuff.

Check out Dutchwares. Dutch is an amazing man that loves to hang and tinker. He has just added to his line of really cool clips, slides and biners. Quilt clips that can be sewn into place on your hammock to clip your underquilt suspension onto or threaded into your quilt's suspension and clipped onto your hammock as well as ridgeline clips. Cool stuff, reasonable prices and a great guy to deal with.

Just remember to only hang it as high as you are willing to fall and over stuff you are willing to fall on.

Swinging from the trees means no back, shoulder or hip pain in the morning while in the bush.

Congrats on the switch, I recently went the hammock route as well. I haven't spent an night outdoors yet either (too cold and don't have the proper bottom insulation) but mine is hung up in my basement and I've had many naps in it. I am ordering a quilt set from Hammock Gear, so as soon as that arrives I'll be spending a night hanging outside.
